    What would anyone venture to guess (with hard evidence) is the ABSOLUTE BEST place to get comps, for playing video poker?
    I'm talking about STRICTLY EARNED COMPS (not cash back, not bounce-back, not coupons)
    Also, it must be available to the general public, monthly.

    I nominate Boyd...With 7x point multiplier (which is available monthly, to the general public), you can get 1.16% comps (IE: For every $100 you cycle through, you earn $1.16 in comps)

    Anyone else have better results with say...Ellis Island, or perhaps another joint?

    FWIW: In Reno, I can get 1.44% (monthly sustainable; but alas this is a VEGAS forum)

    A couple of points to consider:

    - isn't the 7x multiplier only available once a month or so?
    - don't you need to consider what games are available? I think Boyd's has some decent paytables (such as 9/6 job) but it's just single line. Wouldn't a lesser comp rate be better if you were at a casino where you could play 5-play or 10-play?

    But this is a great topic to discuss.

    That all depends on a lot of what you're looking to get out of it....I'm just asking for simple point earning.
    I could actually make a thread and have someone STICKY it, with all the casinos video poker earning situation...but everyone is different. There aren't many "Bob Dancers" in the world (people willing to squeeze out every last bit of EV)

    If the best casino for point earning only had 6/5 JOB, then what does it matter?

    If it had 6/5 JoB, I'd still be interested in what the percentage was...
    Usually stingy casinos (the ones that have 6/5 JoB) have crap return for comps too (aka: .10%; yes 1/10th of a percent, hahaha)

    Hard Rock's is 1 point for every $2 in on VP and they have 7X points every Wednesday. I try to arrange my meetings around Wednesday visits to take advantage of the promo. They also have 20X on reel slots on Wednesday's as well ($1= 1 point on slots). On regular days, I still get a bonus of 3X points for my level in the BackStage Pass program.

    OK, so .35% comp on 7x points day...YIKES! That's most places (offstrip) BASE earning rate...

    Ellis Island is still an unknown until we see how they COMP out the Super 8 for tourists. I have not been impressed in the past, but its hard to expect much when they sell the beer and food so cheaply.

    You and Tringlomane speak in %'s a lot... can you help me understand how you come up with those? Is MSS $1=1 point on VP?
    I'm assuming pay-tables enter the calculation, but I've seen no mention of that here.

    basically just reverse engineering.
    For your Hard Rock, on 7x points days, playing VP, you earn 7 points per $2. It takes 1000 points to get $1 comp, So it takes $285 coin-in to get $1 in comp (assuming you only play on wednesdays). Divide 100 by 285, this gives you exactly how much you earn per DOLLAR, which is your percentage, of .35%.
    Video Poker paytables aside, I'm just curious about actual percentages.
    Boyd earns 7 points per $1 (on 7x points days); excluding the 100%+ machines.
    It takes 600 points to get $1 in comp at Boyd. So per DOLLAR, you're earning 1.16%

    Not a problem...but as I said, 99.9% of people don't give a rip about this info...Shack's forum is more for the math-people, but there aren't enough "gamblers" there...

    Like I said, Atlantis in Reno has the best (with 1.44%) that I've ever found (JANugget used to have 1.3% but when the new owners took over, I'm sure they changed that)
    Truthfully, I wish more places in Vegas were better, because it's more "fun" there...what I think is funny, is "Bob Dancer Approved" SouthPoint, is only .7% AT BEST (Of course he only "approved" it because it's in his best interests, IYKWIM)

    Also, for those who say "Lower payback video poker offers better comps"...Here is to that debate:
    Boyd = 1.16% for 99.5 = Total EV 100.66%
    Boyd = .39% for 100.07 = Total EV 100.45%

    Atlantis Reno = 1.44% for 99.5 = Total EV 100.98%

    Is your 1.44% Atlantis from .36% on 4x points days? And that's strictly for comps, right? Freeplay would be half that rate?

    Tim - can you give me a little refresher on how the comp earning rate and the tier point accruals work at Atlantis? I was there once in January and I saw I was earning no points on the 100+% machines. So I switched to 9/6 job. Perhaps there are better machines that still earn points. And what's the coin in per point?! Thanks

    It varies so much, it's hard to explain.
    I can tell you the best there is NSUD for dollars with 1.36% comp earning (on 4x points days) and it takes $12.50 per TC on those machines.

    ok that's good to know. Those 4x days are for diamond only right? So I first need to get to diamond to take advantage of it?

    Also, I looked at their calendar and I noticed some 5x days. Are those for everyone?
