I am wondering what type of offers I might expect from Mlife properties based on my more recent play. Here's a little background:

The past couple years we've stayed at Aria a couple times a year and I played a little bit of slots and mostly blackjack at $25-$50. We usually eat a few nice meals and spend some money. We usually get offers at casino rate and $75 resort credit on the mlife website.

This past December we had a great trip and stayed 2 nights at Delano and an extra night at Aria. I played a lot more than I usually do, not much by some standards I suppose, but I did about $8000 coin-in on VP mostly at Aria. I don't have any Aria offers on the mlife site like I usually do, but got an email from Aria VIP services offering $100 resort credit and a free strip view upgrade.

I did another business trip by myself in January and stayed at MGM and did another $8500 coin-in on VP over two days there. Also a bit of blackjack but I don't get many points from that. For blackjack they are showing my losses for probably $600 more than they really are, likely because I'm usually friendly with the dealers and tip. I don't think they put me in for what I colored up. Also, while there, a slot host told me I have $25 in free play at Mandalay but I haven't seen anything on mlife or received any emails about it.

    So now the questions!

I know it's better to concentrate my coin-in per day rather than two days, is there a magic number for offers? I've been trying to go for $10,000 but can't find the nerve when variance starts kicking my ass. What about $5000 per day?

Should I just wait a bit longer to see what comes down the pipe? What might I expect?

I'm not expecting a lot but we like Aria the best and MGM could be passable but I don't really like the gaming options and location of Mandalay.

I'm sure questions like this are asked frequently so I appreciate any responses I might get!

We stay at Planet Hollywood most of the time but enjoy playing at MGM and Bellagio. My offers are normally 3 comped nights at MGM SUN-THURS with a 2 for 1 show or free buffet. Last month I received my first comped offer from Bellagio which was 2 nights SUN-THURS and $100 food credit. Most years I just make Pearl so for what little play I give I'm pleased with what I'm offered.

In the Mlife hierarchy Aria is at the top. MGM and Mandalay Bay are below it, so you might get better offers from them. MGM usually puts out their corporate offers every quarter. Their Fall Offers are showing up for me right now, the winter offers should be coming soon. Those might be improved for you. I get other offers every now and then like one called "The Buzz" those are typically for MGM. I would call the Mlife number for the hotel you want to stay at and see what they offer. I have also felt over the years the Mlife hotels are pretty good at comping stuff off at check out, especially if you did not get a free room.

To me it seems MLife offers lag by about 6 months, I had a monster trip in March 2013 but didnt start to get better offers until Oct/Nov time frame of that year, the offers did last about 3 quarters though, even though my play on later trips was no where close to the level of that March trip

$8500 coin-in in VP isnt going to generate too much in terms of comps, since its a pretty low HA game. assume 3% HA and thats only $255 in theo... about 30% of that for comps...so about $75.

To come up with the "magic" number, you can back calculate what Theo you need to generate. Its really all estimates based on assumptions, but it will get you in the ballpark.

Theo = (amount put at risk) * (house advantage)

(Amount put at risk (table) = (Average bet) * (Decisions per hour) * (hours played)
    (Amount put at risk (slots/vp)) = coin-in

MGM hard comps are about 30% of theo

So, (desired comp amount)/30% = Required Theo

But you shouldnt play for comps...just play what you feel comfortable with and be happy with what you get

    Thanks.

Kobra2848, that gives me a bit of an idea. I did make it to Pearl with these last two trips and have a pretty good shot at gold before it resets.

Krh2o, This last trip at MGM I did get comped breakfast which is basically the first comp like that I've ever received. Coincidentally some Mlife Fall offers did show up for me just now. It was a free weeknight at Monte Carlo or below; the better hotels are telling me to go comp myself! (with express comps)

DeMoN2318, That's good info, I'll wait and see what happens. I'm thinking of using the Aria offer I mentioned in my original post next month and hopefully get some more good coin-in. What you said is pretty in-line with what a host told me at Aria last year. To get a comped room there I'm looking at $170 average bet at BJ for 4 hours a day or 6000 slot points. I'm not expecting a free room at Aria with my play at this point. Maybe just better rates and more resort credits. Maybe a little free play? Not sure how much is needed for that though.

I also need to figure out how not to annoy my non-gambling wife with this gambling hobby and make sure she has fun while we're there!

Does anyone really hit these theo numbers?

There numbers don't account for variance so I think they are BS a bit!

Person C could never hit them - always loose more - while person A and B never loose as much.

No, the house edge doesn't account for variance, but then the casino isn't looking at individual performance - they are calculating what comps you have earned based on how much, in theory, you should have lost... not how much you have actually won or lost. Thats because in the grand scheme of things it all works out where you might win this trip but somebody else lost... next time around maybe you will be the one who loses and others are going to be winners.

For VP, I don't think any casino uses 3% in the Theo. 1% typically even though the actual machine pay-tables are only 98% or less.
For those full pay ( >99.5% pay-table) machines, you can be sure you get nothing more than the express comps in your account.

That's not entirely true...I've seen a LOT of casinos set 2½% THEO on a 9/6 JoB machine, so I know it's possible to get.
I'd say the MAX theo they'd EVER set on a vp machine is probably 5% (which would probably be on a penny 100-play)
But like I found, if you can get 2½% theo on a 9/6 JoB machine, then you're getting 5x what you're supposed to.

Your percentages are based on perfect play...which is not common...so using the "pay-table" percentage as the HA isnt a good assumption IMO. We dont really know what HA is used when calculating theo...I threw 3% out there as a realistic example.
