Wynn Expectations

Just got off the phone with a domestic Wynn Host. (A.G.) She was very knowledgable and we spoke about my previous play at wynn and what they expected for future visits. I let her know about my past Mirage play of about 30 hours over 4 days with 300 average and let her know while I wouldn't be moving to Wynn this upcoming trip I would like to do a day of drop in play, further establish myself, and talk further about a trip I have planned for April.

She gave me the following guidelines to go by.
$200 Average bet for room only.
$450 for Room and food

While I presently play at Mirage with a 300 average I am considering Wyn/Encore for some of my future visits I presently have a corporate offer for 3 nights complimentary but was curious about transportaiton and food. I almost always come during the week and forgot to ask her while on the phone if during the week vs weekend makes a difference.

 

Have you ever tried V/P? I am only a $50-100 BJ player and get free comped nights and sometimes cruises from V/P. So if you average $300 a hand, than I am sure you will get better treatment.

 

Wynn has been the most stingy in term of comps for me. I average 400-500 bet in bacc. V/P is better for me.

You should be able to get better treatment during the week.

 

I'd have to agree with the other posters. For higher end players, Venetian seems to be the only higher end property that actually cares about you. They will even give loss rebates on 10K+, which is unheard of at a fancy strip property. I somehow ended up in their asian marketing (dunno how I'm a middle aged white guy) but I have an excellent deal that they will only give out to international players even though I am domestic. If anyone needs a host contact let me know. Be sure to deal with Asian marketing as they seem to be the better of regular marketing.

 

The challenge I am running into is that my main game is Pai Gow Tiles and Mirage has gotten rid of it. If that wasn't the case I would have no reason for looking. My host at Mirage is awesome and I get all of my charges taken care of. I just do a regular room but most trips eat and drink as I please and usually do a cabana at the pool with a couple friends which is taken care of. MGM-Mirage properties that have tiles are Bellagio, MGM, Aria, & Mandalay.

 

I'd say my play has been fairly similar to yours from a theo standpoint - yours is probably a little higher than mine. My host always gives me transportation to/from the airport. I almost always have to ask though. And I never get a Roller ...but free is good.

My food comps seem to be more a function of my actual losses than they are of my theoretical losses. A year or two ago, they gave me as much or more than any of the top tier MGM joints gave me. Lately, though, they've been pretty stingy.

 

I think that's a gross overstatement. Nevertheless, I agree with the other posts that Wynn comps seem harder to get than other properties

 

If this is true, then why do so many people patronize the Wynn? Why settle for less at Wynn?

 

Because it's such a great property (best on the strip, IMO) and the people there are just plain classy.

 

Vegas and classy don't go together, regardless of the property you're at :evillaugh

Definitely not newest and nicest is arguable...I would disagree.

 

I don't know about this as I look at my rated play this weekend and WYNN gave me the highest average bet. Strange that I was betting about the same at a $500 min table at all the properties.

I'm getting comped rooms so that is not the issues but Looking at my rating I think Wynn gives me the most accurate or higher bet amount.

 

I think the key to this is embedded in Steve Wynn's philosophy. The casino is only there to help pay for the resort, it's just another commodity of the resort.
The non gaming revenue that place generates exceeds gaming revenue consistently. Steve Wynn's view on his hotels themselves are that they are premium product and do not have
to compete as hard as other Vegas properties. He does not want to just attract gamblers. As long as gaming revenue is in par with their competitors, they will maintain strategy. As the Steve would say he's not in
the business of building gambling joints anymore.

 

I assume this is for four hours of play per day?

 

I also mainly play tiles and I get much better offers from Aria than I do at Wynn, my average bet is usually around 300 and never have had an issue getting whatever I have needed at Aria. I do have to go through my host as my offers are not that great but he takes care of everything for me, but I am a cheap date as far as the casinos are concerned.

 

The comps at Wynn aren't great unless you are a "whale" - $100,000+ daily in bets.

That being said, people stay at the Wynn for the experience. I often gamble at the surrounding properties and that pays for food at their restaurants and shows. I stay at the Encore exclusively, and I don't expect much in comps, however, I always seek out a host when I first get there. I build up a rapport and try to schmooze my way into having the majority of my room charges taken off on the day I leave. Building a relationship with a host is the best way to get a break at the Wynn/Encore.

 

Maybe the host is setting a level they hope you hit, and if you do hit as you say the $300 level consistently even if it is less than what they quoted you, you may get ok comps, just that they may not have enough of a read on you yet so put that level out there as what they hope you will hit. Or I could be totally off, just a thought.

 

That's not my experience- I get 3 nights in a Parlor suite, $1000 free play and $200 a night towards food - that's seems pretty good to me and I am by no means a High Roller. As a slot player, comps are generally easier to come I guess.

 

My question is this: If you played the same amount at another property, would you get an equivalent or better offer?
Some are saying Wynn is a good at given back comps based on play, others are saying it is hard to get good comps at Wynn unless you play a lot.
