hi i am planning my first attempt into pro sports betting later in this year. so one of the first major issues i have been reading about is the fact that some casinos can and will actually refuse your business(kick you out). Apparently this is common problem for successful bettors, or "advantage players" as i have heard them called. i will only be dealing with sports bets. Is this an issue i should be aware of, or is this only happening to casino game players?

this got me starting to think i might need to have accounts with multiple sportsbooks, 10 or more. thinking if i spread out my bets my winnings at any one book will not be as high and i wont be so noticeable. well then i come to find out william hill now owns 115 of the state's 183 sportsbooks. so now im thinking im going to have to find out who the parent companies are for all the books i might use. even if they have different names they still may have the same owner and therefor spreading my bets out wouldnt help me at all.

i know i might sound quite naive and i fully admit this is true. i have never even been to las vegas before. but this is very important i know anything and everything that might inhibit my ability to make bets. so with that, are there any maximum amounts you can bet on a single game? i will be a high volume bettor, as in betting on almost every sports game available.
thanks for any and all advice you have for me.

How big is your bank account and how long will it last? You indicate you are not a better now, but will be later this year, and will be betting on almost every sports game available??????

(those answers will have serious impact on any concerns)

Whatever program you bought that taught you this "system" is a scam.

Vegas books will eagerly take your action... they've seen it all.

That is what I was thinking. Or he has "something" that is better than what the book-makers in Vegas have. I was not going to assume anything until he came back with more information. What I am wondering is why he would wait until later in the year?

I think the app only works when you are in the state of NV.

It think that you will make the ideal candidate for a sports book.

many have come to vegas with that same dream and many have taken the greyhound back to where they came from.

Not saying this will happen in your case but you wont be the first one to come up with this idea.

moving to LV in 6months, never been b4, pro sportsbettor newbie ??s HELP!!

    hello all!
never been to LV before. my name virginpropunter refers to me having never even made a bet before yet i will be starts as a professional this coming fall. i am a guy and not a virgin. its just im a virgin to professional gambling. trying to learn the basics on taxes and daily rules of working with sportsbooks. ill be starting/moving this coming football season aug 2015.
wondering since ill be betting only on american nfl nba mens ncaa basketball and football, what sportsbooks offer the most action per sport? do you have to physically go to to every book you want to bet with, or can you just call your bets in over the phone? i know online bets are only legal for nevada residents only right? that which i am not. Im currently an illinois resident. im anxious to start so im just trying to learn how things will be ahead of time.

also wondering how many sportsbooks are there that are owned by different ownership? or at least how to go about finding that out. i have heard william hill owns something like three quarters of the sportsbooks in las vegas.
if i am betting a lot of money, how much will get me free room and for how long? should i even worry about finding a apartment? if i am betting over 1000 to 50k in all? overall might have that much total on bets per week. planning on winning of course :)
i plan on staying in LV from aug 2015 - april 2016
any directions you can point me in on any of the questions would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I SURE wish you the best of luck!!! I'm not in a position to address many of your questions, but can tell you this... I've known a few fellas who "make a living" doing nothing but betting sports in Las Vegas. One has actually become a pretty good friend of mine. He's in his late 30's and moved here from Australia in his early 20's to do just that. He spends most of his time at the M, SouthPoint and Silverton, but I think that's mostly cause he now lives in that area I think, but he does make the rounds of the others including LVH.

My comment to you though is that the "life" appears to be quite a roller-coaster and he has the temperament for that. I watched him buy a nice home and a nice vehicle several years ago and saw the house foreclosed on and the vehicle is now old and broken a lot. Everyone has the intention of winning, but absent a significant bankroll to ride out the swings, like any type of gaming, it becomes a life of outhouse to the penthouse and the back to the outhouse. He LOVES sports and is very good at doing research and running in the right circles to get information... it's just NOT a life I could lead.

To address some of your questions:

    - You are going to have to move to the area and visit the sportsbooks in person to place your wagers. You can't just open an account and then go back home and phone in your bets.

    - You are going to have to find a place to live: nobody is going to give you comped hotel rooms for betting in their sportsbook.

    - For how much you are talking about betting ($1K-50K) you are actually going to find it hard to put that much action out there. Unless its a big event or playoffs the casinos usually limit how much you can wager on a game with them, usually a cap that can be as low as $200-500, depending on the sport... AND you might need to show a current room key from the hotel in order to place that bet.

    - Basically the sportsbooks don't want professional sports bettors and so they have a lot of rules and policies in place to limit their action. What they do want is just the casual fan or homer who is going to come in and plunk a couple of bucks down on a few games or on their favorite team, or some guy who has a new "system" for picking the ponies...

Yep, I think every cabbie in vegas moved there with the intention of making a living on sports betting. Not impossible but it takes a big bankroll with laser focus and discipline.

Well the first thing that comes to mind is that he could lose all of his money.
    That's what could go wrong!

Auggie thank you for the info!
straight talk ! I appreciate that!
So a sportsbook could refuse my bet simply if im not staying in their hotel??

That would be a cap of $200-500 per game? or cap total amount i want to bet with them for all games that particular day?
that does pose a potential problem for me. however that is why im wondering about the the different ownerships of sportsbooks. If i can find somewhere between 6 and 15 different books i could still have enough takers to cover the amounts ill need to bet.

Fair enough. My cousin who lives in Nevada has an online account with Cantor, and he is able to make $10K and $20K bets at a time without any problems. I would open up a couple of these online accounts with different companies, and then you can make your bets from the comfort of your living room, or wherever, as long as you are in Nevada.

that is really interesting your friend moved here from Australia. since gambling is not taxed in Australia i really wonder why he would come here? i was actually considering going there to save on taxes using the the foriegn earned income exclusion. but digging deeper into im not sure there would really be much saving after housing and moving expenses
