Carnegie Deli @ Mirage - IMHO, the new ordering/seating arrangements SUCK!!

So, in case you didn't know, they change the dining arrangement at Carnegie Deli.

No change in the food. Very high quality and very good portions. HOWEVER . . . .

This is NOW not a regular "sit down and order" restaurant.

IMHO, you need to be intimately familiar with the menu since you have to order BEFORE you seat yourself. Yes, that's right. So, if you are "on the fence" about what you want to order, or it's the first time you'd been there (thank goodness that's not us or anyone in front of us), you could be standing in line for quite a bit.

After you place your order, you then need to find a place to sit. I don't think I will eat there again unless there is no line.

As I said earlier, there is no change in the portions or quality of the food. Still excellent.

"I spoke with 2 waitresses both who are now dining area attendants. Both have anecdotally said traffic is way down and they have had more complaints than positive reactions. They will bring you water, refill your coffee or soft drink (don't forget to order it with your meal) and provide you with tableware and or a take-out box."

 

Why not sit down and read the menu? Then when you are ready to order go up to the bar and order then go back to your seat.

This is common in Australia and New Zealand.

Definitely dissapointed in the change here. They have opened a new restaurant called Pantry for a sit down breakfast but I wasn't that impressed with it. For some reason Mirage has always had trouble keeping a nice morning cafe or restaurant.

 

We loved eating at Carnegie and it was our go to place for a burger and fries on our arrival (when I traveled with my girlfriend)...but the one thing I hated was how long it took to get waited on and for the food to show up.

This system sounds like an even bigger disaster...bet it doesnt stick and they go back to the old way

 

Will they still let you use the mlife line pass? We always eat at Carnegie. Always. This new arrangement sounds strange.

 

I used my mLife Platinum card. There is an mLife line, where you can use a line pass. I still think the whole arrangement is less than desirable (for me).

Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

 

Yes, one of my fave LV splurge sessions is to get a slice of cheesecake and pig out at the slot machine!

 

I love a huge plate of fries and a grilled cheese in the middle of the night

 

'm the "file1040" that posted on the Vegaschatter site. I'm a regular Vegas visitor...usually 3-4x per year and 4-6 nights per visit and have been doing that many trip for many years. I'm Mlife Platinum and stay at Bellagio and Mirage.

The "new" menu has about 20% of what was on the old menu. Gone are most variations of sandwiches, soups, breakfast platters and cheesecakes. That 3 tiered display of desserts is gone. No pickles on the table, drinks served in Styrofoam cups, and no table service.

Yes, there is a separate line-up area for Mlife at the order counter. In my opinion, the food quality and portion size have both gone down. With a trained wait staff, they would stagger your order and service. Soup first, then they bring me my Woody Allen. Not now. I have to have it all at once.

From most of the negative posts, I'm hoping that the geniuses at The Mirage put The Carnegie back the way it was. Probably impossible now that they gutted it.

 

Carryout is definitely the way to go at Carnegie... Done it many times!

 

Holy smokes that's awful...the next step will be they'll shut it down. And after stripping it of pretty much everything they might as well end its misery and put a bullet in its head.
