Ugh! Why am I having such a hard time? This is me and my husbands first time to Vegas. We are coming February 12-16 for some shows at Brooklyn Bowl. And yes that is a crazy expensive time! We have some friends coming in just for Friday and Saturday night. I have a resort tower king at Mirage booked for our time for $868. Friends can't spend a ton so they suggested Treasure Island. For them it would be $100 more to stay at Mirage in regular room for their two nights - $430 vs $529. Is it worth it? If husband and I switched to TI it would be $790 for a room with strip view so not much less than what we have booked at Mirage. Or we could book a tower suite at TI for our four nights and add connecting room for the two nights they are there and it would be $1375. We don't have to stay at same place but would be nice.
I looked at Bellagio $1292 and Venetian $1170 for standard king room. Having a hard time swallowing the price and not sure how much time we will actually be in the room but is it worth the splurge? We will be at the Bowl Fri, Sat, Sun nights and we will gamble some but not a ton. Looking forward to a weekend away with no kids, walking the strip, checking the scene out and drinking.
So I guess I'm looking for advice on what you all think on the choices I have. Should I look at other places? I looked at Linq but wasn't sold on it and the only thing available was the basic room. I want to stick within the vicinity of the Bowl. There may be some points I hadn't thought about. My husband thinks I'm a crazy, over analyzer but when you don't get vacations away from the kids all that often, you want to make the most of it!
    Thanks a ton!
    Heather

I am of the opinion that Mirage and TI offer great value for what you get. This was especially true for me when I first started going to Vegas 14 years ago. On the other hand, Venetian and Bellagio are higher end properties with excellent amenities. As you stated in your post, if you are not going to spend much time in your room, then Venetian or Bellagio may not be worth the extra cost. In the end, it depends on whether the extra cost is worth it to you. I used to stay at the Bellagio exclusively because my trips were short and I found myself to be spending the majority of my time on the property I was staying at. As such, Bellagio was definitely worth it for me.

Have fun on your first trip!

I was just having this conversation with a friend and she was overwhelmed by all the choices. Even we Vegas Veterans have a hard time picking a hotel sometimes, especially once you get comps involved.

Let me tell you something to ease your mind. On my first trip to Vegas, I paid rack rate for the Manor Rooms at Circus Circus. I thought I was being savvy by asking for a AAA discount at the front desk. This was a HUGE mistake that a veteran wouldn't make, but in the end, it didn't matter. Most of our time in the room was spent face down on the bed, recovering. The rest was out there, wide-eyed, saying, "Look at THAT!!"

During one of our annual gatherings, most people were staying at Mirage, but I was comped at TI, so I stayed there. It was VERY easy to get back and forth between the properties and never had trouble meeting up with them. Once or twice I think I got to the lobby faster than people staying at Mirage. :)

Don't stress too much about your hotel room choice. You listed really great options for a first trip. Just look at your budget and decide what is important to you. Do you need the space in the suite? Will you be entertaining in your room? How much time will you really spend there? Then just make a decision and stick with it. Once you've been there and experienced all the different options, you'll have a better idea of what kind of property you're looking for.

How exciting to be planning a first trip. Angst shouldn't be involved. :wink2:

get an Mlife card # online, then get the casino rate, you'd be surprised how cheap a Vdara deluxe suite can be with casino rate

    Keep your reservation at Mirage.

Let your friends stay at TI. If they want to spring for the extra $100 to stay at Mirage, that's up to them.

The hotels are close enough so it's not a big deal when you want to meet up. Apart enough so you won't have someone banging on your door unexpectedly (hopefully).

If you never get away from the kids, why you would even be thinking about getting a connecting room is beyond me.

As another option, you could stay at the Signature (MGM). I checked out the rates from Feb. 12 - 16th (4 nights) and it comes to $579 before taxes and includes a $50 resort credit. From what I saw on Google, Brooklyn Bowl is near the Linq (don't know anything about this, so hopefully I'm not wrong). You could take the Las Vegas monorail from MGM to the Linq when necessary... really easy walk from the Signature (5 minutes tops from room to monorail station).

Signature would offer a slightly nicer room, big bathroom, and a fridge which can be kind of hard to find in the more basic rooms in Vegas.

Here's a link for the Signature with promo code.

Normally I would say the MGM is too far, but this is one time the monorail might work.

Since you are spending time at Brooklyn Bowl, you might consider Harrahs, Linq or Flamingo. Room cost will be quite a bit less, and more Holiday Inn... but still a perfectly fine room.

Thanks for all your advice and responding so quickly! I will check on the the other hotels mentioned and keep my eyes out for anything else that pops up but am glad I have a reservation booked because it seems like everyday prices are going up - especially for that weekend!

Sounds like you will be spending a lot of time in the Brooklyn Bowl area, keep distance in mind. Mirage is pretty close and it's easy to get from your room to the strip.

This is what I was going to say. They're very close so you can meet up easily thanks to the tram that runs between the two properties.

Agree with the last comment regarding either Harrahs, Linq or Flamingo. You could also throw Ballys into the mix.

It always sounds great to just jump on the bus or monorail, but when you get there, the waiting and walking to get to the station is always something we regret. You should be able to get a room at any of those our CET properties and it will be within the budget of both you and friends.

I haven't taken a bus in over 10 years there. Never took the monorail. When you have a couple people it is normally waaaaaayyyyyy easier and most often cheaper to catch a cab toget to the next place. Now I just rent a car and let the valet take care of it, unless drinking. Even then just go back and get it the next day.
