To set the stage, it was Day 1, 3rd hour in and we are a Low Roller posse who do all manner of stuff. Our fav is $5 Team BJ, where we can jump up to the Green or occasionally the Black level, if on a roll.Had a few Coronas for a $50 initial investment. One of us took a pause, while I continued and the other moved to 3 Card Poker. After some coaching about playing the extra dollar.... Just in case... he did and hit one for just under $10 large! This never happens to us!

Soooooo... We got caught up in the shenanigans and perhaps he was short on tipping the dealer. We tip everyone in Vegas,as many do, but without saying how much, what is the right thing to do?

    Thanks.

Personally, depending how much I'm up or down, I'd drop between 2 or 3 blacks or a purple, but it is totally up to you!

    Tip for good service.

If the dealer had nothing to do with the enjoyment of the game, i.e. just dealt the cards, didn't smile, just a robot, I might give a small tip on a huge win like that. But if the dealer increased my enjoyment of the game from the time I sat down, then I would tip a bit more.

then again, if it was the dealer who suggested to play the bonus and I won big? Yeah, dealer be getting paid too :)

An average TIP is probably your average bet every hour plus 1 to 2 percent of any big wins. I adjust it more or less depending on the demeanor of the dealer.

I also have to say that I am a sexist in this particular area in that I tend to give more to young pretty women. But hey, they all split TIPs anyway.

Tipping the person who works for an organization that exists for the sole purpose of taking as much of your money as possible is rather illogical. No matter what happens, they work hard to take YOUR money. Nothing else.

But - I still tip dealers. Probably not blacks or purples, but then very few of my bets are even one black.

I tip both for service and for good luck. On blackjack, I generally play greens/blacks, and as long as it's a good vibe, I tend to bet at least a nickel for the dealers every few hands (I always ask if they want to just drop it as opposed to bet it, and they always ask to let it play). On craps, I always have the dealers working on the pass line when I'm rolling, and plenty of two-way hardways and C/Es.

Back in the late 80's I won a bunch playing blackjack at Binion's.....back then like 500 $ was a lot in my economic situation. Told the dealer he was my lucky charm that night and could I buy him a drink when he got off. He laughed and said sure and we went to the Peppermill as it was not a casino but a bar with possible food options. Bought him a drink and i ate breakfast and he passed. I slipped him 50$ as a token of my appreciation and he thanked me as if IT were a lot in his economic situation.

Was that chancy? I didn't want to tip so much in the casino and wanted him to keep it all in case the boss said give me that or 1/2. I did not know at the time of dealer pools or other forms of sharing. It was fun for me too.

I'd give at least $100 in that spot, probably no more than $200.

$100 to the dealer for a drop & $75 bet for them on the next hand, ($25 on all three bets, blind)....so, $175 total.

Tip what you want. Hell, don't tip if you want.
Too many factors for me like how long I played, my interaction with the dealer, breast size and stuff like that. :evillaugh

So if he "dropped a $ to win $10 large" then I'm assuming he put a $1 chip on the 6-card bonus and HIT a 6-card Royal.
    VERY rare indeed.
In that situation, I would have tipped a black chip.

$100, maybe 2 tops if he was a great dealer.

Tim...the $1 bonus bet in 3-card is for the mini-royal straight-flush...spades to win the progressive (which I assume was the $10K).
All of the 6-card bonus bets I've ever seen have to be the table min...typically $5 @ CET places.

That's a poor description of dealers. They don't care if you win or lose. In fact they typically want you to win so you will tip. It would be "illogical" to tip the casino, not the dealers.

Every company exists for the sole purpose of taking as much of your money as possible.

So by that logic, you should never tip anyone - like the limo driver, bell man, waiter, etc - since they all work for such companies.

100-200 depending on if the dealer was friendly or not.

$100 (which is 1% of the win) seems appropriate.
