    My Trip Report

Well I was planning to forego any contributions to a trip report, or even starting my own for this quick upcoming 2-nighter but I'm a little worried about Karma so here we are.

I have gained such enjoyment from reading the plethora of fantastic trip reports ranging from Nickel Royals to $500,000 markers and I started to get the feeling it would be bad karma to take and not give back.

What really got me started thinking about Karma today was finding an Irishman's wallet in the parking lot at the Jewel grocery store about an hour ago. I drove it a few miles to the owners house to return it and refused his reward stating "I'm headed to Vegas next week bro, all I need is the good karma!"

In 10 short days I'll cash that check as my United flight from ORD chases the Leprechaun and his pot of gold west at 39,000 feet. Let's just hope that hot flight attendant from my LNK flight yesterday has gotten promoted to the LAS route--she certainly deserves it!!!

This trip was borne of a Rivers raid followed by an Aces Kicker hit at the Whores Shoe Hammond, combined with Hielo and Borats poor judgement and evil temptations like 2 little devils on my shoulder.

OK maybe I had soooomething to do with the planning. We will all meet our Buddy Kakha out in Vegas as he works on NFR.

Cosmo was kind enough to provide accommodations. Our plan is to low roll and roll hard as the entire trip will be under 48 hours from our 541pm arrival Thurs to a 230ish exit on Saturday.

Primary goals include: reaching my United status for 2015. Staying relatively STD free. Avoiding waking up in used green VMB faux-cuffs. Pillaging the hell out of Cosmo, aria, Caesars VP and craps tables.

Plans include Mirage buffet thurs night, mini strip crawl. Early day drunk with numerous language complaints from elderly attendees of Aria buffet fri morning and another mini strip crawl, a fri night dinner of pure gluttony at Botero. A final all-night race to the finish Friday evening as we attempt to win back Mackers and gaggles losses from their previous trips!!

I am deeply saddened that I cannot partake of this trip by the way. I refuse to even toy with looking at flights.........

Now that we are down to "single digits" as they say, I'll add a little more flavor regarding the conditions leading to this trip and some more specific gambling plans.

First off, I have been on a relatively hot, albeit low-level betting streak of late. The past 3 years in fact have been quite good, but especially 2014. In a normal year such results would portend increased frequency of trips, and higher quality accomadations and larger bets. Unfortunately as I have mentioned in other posts I was threatened within a hair of my life if I didn't invest in a kitchen remodel. As that bill came due, and I have no Vegas on the horizon, my spirit of fairness led me to spend even more of my hard-won Vegas fund on a new TV, sectional, speakers, etc for my family room (well it was a family room til I pimped it out, now its our "Sunday NFL Worship Room". :evillaugh:evillaugh

In addition to these irresponsible (from CET/MGM accountants point of view) uses of my Vegas funds, I also found myself falling into a rut of attending numerous NYC area bars, pubs, taverns, sporting events, etc. with a bevy of lower-to-mid-'20's beauties throughout the summer. Of course for a guy like me to roll with girls like that, well yeah, I gotta be buying *a few* rounds of drinks, sooooooo a further dent was made into the Vegas fund.

And finally, as I contemplated a freezing Chicago winter spent in the confines of my snow-encapsulated home, logic overcame me and I started slowly but surely over-scheduling myself on various vacations at non-so-minimal cost. Nothing extravagent mind you, but it adds up when you are fronting a house hold of underage deadbeats. So two weeks ago we enjoyed a visit to the mall of America when SpongeBob made 2/3 of the kids cry like they were still babies. OK maybe it was 3/4 if I"m included.:cry::cry:

Then this past weekend I flew my wife and older son to America's heartland to witness the death of greatness and the birth of mediocrity at the hands of one Mr. Bo Pelini. Interestingly enough I sat by a fellow sufferer (aka Husker fan) who had lived a couple years in Vegas and had built Aria's elevators. I thanked him for creating such a nice puke receptacle for me! :vomit:

I'm taking a break from travel to enjoy a kick-ass Thanksgiving day lineup of 3 NFL games, before re-starting the globe blower the next weekend with this Vegas trip. That will be followed up only one week later with a 5-night Caribbean cruise on which I am taking my daughter and younger son. Their behavior will determine my choice of drink package. Although I've done *some* analysis:

I also have a Phoenix guys golf trip lined up for January. Anyway, the take away from all this is I've blown an obscene amount of cash on various bullshit since mid-August and Vegas hasn't been on the tip of my tongue. It has however been on various other tips, and therefore fate has led us where we all knew it would. Destiny is inescapable my friends!!!

    Gambling plans:

In the spirit of "Paralysis by Analysis" I am hoping to numb my hands to a level where I'm only able to reach my wallet in a Big-Sack, Alligator-Arm manner during this upcoming trip. To facilitate such fiscal responsibility, I am once again laying the "best laid plans" as follows:

#1 Sessions budgets, starting low and increasing. My normal trip budget is $3,000, and I'll take the same for this trip despite it only being a 2-nighter. I'm trying to fit in 3 primary gambling sessions anyway.

Thurs night $500, Fri Day, $1,000, Fri Night $1,500 (of course there will be plenty of add'l chasing funds available via ATM/POS debit) :wink2:

#2 New Craps system. I've been practicing on a pretty slick iPhone app with a system where I start with a pass line bet, then once the point is set, I go single odds and add a 6 or an 8. then as each # is hit, I reinvest the winnings by adding a 9 and a 5 until the middle 4 #'s are covered. I then harvest some winnings before beginning to press a unit per win. (Ie. $10/$12). I've also experimented with adding a half unit each win. I'm not completely eschewing carny bets, as I plan to throw out a 1-unit hard 8 (aka chucky foreskin) any time the point is 8. I'll double my odds bet in that case so that easy 8's aren't so unpallatable.

#3 New roulette systems. In lieu of my old system where i covered 13/38 numbers at a cost of $175+ per spin, I'm going to try one system (high volatility) where I focus on my 6 primary favorite #'s at $100 spin (2-0-28 and 20-32-17 with $15 bet on the outside #'s and $20 on the 0 and 17). If I get a chance at Aria I'll also try the european (low volatility) system I've read about recently on the recent epic trip reports by doing $75 on 1-18 and $25 on 19-24.

#4 For video poker my goal is to play as much $1 as possible. And as much bonus deluxe as possible, although it'll be more DDB at places with no or bad boner tables.

I suspect minimal 3 card poker will be layered in if things are going well. No chance of blackjack or baccarat as these games are far to classy for me. :ssst:

So that's the plan, really hoping for some long and profitable craps sessions with the numbers getting pressed into the Stratosphere , and I don't mean that shitty strap-on at the north end of the strip either!

I've probably played less than 100 hands of blackjack in the past 3 years.

I like to refer to life as a continuum between work and play..... along said continuum, at one end you have hard slave labor, ie. breaking rocks with a hammer, etc. At the other end you have hard play, for instance getting blown by two really hot porn actress quality hookers while watching your favorite team win the national championship. All the rest of lifes activities lie somewhere in between.

I recognize any given activity can lie at a different point along that path based on an individuals personal likes & preferences. For me, that continuum on the work side could go slave labor, mcd's drive thru, red lobster waiter, hooters human resource quality control manager, regular job, part time job, poker, card counting, blackjack...... and then maybe video poker. I seek to go no further past video poker on the continuum, at least in my leisure time pursuits. That is as much as I want to think/pay attention/exert mental effort.

So yes, No BJ TABLE for BeeeJay....

I guess the definition of "imported" changes once you leave the US.

I considered that but since it's a US based cruise (I assume) it wouldn't make sense to call anything but US beers domestic. Unless they are brewing their own beers on the ship I suppose.

Anyway, looking forward to reading about your exploits.

Damn! You've been thinking a helluva lot harder than we do when we count cards. I have to ask, since the phenomenon could conceivably happen to you but will assuredly never happen to me:

Considering how much of life is rather ordinary, wouldn't it be better to space out the great events like watching that big victory and receiving that special personal attention? Maybe the game in the afternoon and the BJ's that night? Thinking back to the best sex I ever had, I don't think it would have been improved had I been watching my team win the big game, and vice versa.

Yes, it's pretty far back for both, but a lot farther back for watching the team win.

hmmmm good point. but i'm coming at this from the point of view that things will be ever-improving and that enjoying a great experience now doesn't necessarily decrease the existence of further great experiences in the future.

Also some may have noticed my betting plan clearly outpaces my bankroll. that is because the bankroll i have mentioned is on the Wishful Thinking-Total Bullshit continuum----and pretty much a lot closer to the Total Bullshit end. But another factor is my play is pretty limited in duration, as is the overall length of this trip. If I can stick to $1 VP, and it goes horribly, I would expect to lose $6,000 in 3 gambling "outings". The roulette is very limited, a few spins here or there, rarely over 10 spins in a day, and the craps is slow.

Decided to use points for upgrade on flight out to Vegas, flight back was already in First as I needed 1.5 segments to reach my status tier. Then started thinking.....damn why do i want to fly coach on the way out there, so 17,500 points and $75 later I am in the upgrade que. I'm fine saving the points and $75 for Macker's bday if it doesn't go thru, I'll just snuggle with two strippers who are surely flying out on a Thursday.

BJ, there's nothing like reading your plans before you get to Vegas. "Best laid" as it were.
