    My Trip Report

Reading everyone else's TRs this week has me fried up to write one. Not sure if I will have that same fire next weekend when I am in Vegas, but since I was making a short trip to Tunica this past weekend, it made sense to write up a short TR. So here we go ....

The gf is jealous because I am headed to Vegas two of the next four weekends without her, so she demanded a quickie Tunica trip. And since I never say no to a casino, I texted my GoldStrike host and she set us up for the weekend. We started out after a busy Friday of work and made it to Tunica just after 8:30 local time Friday night.

Tunica was dead this weekend! Can't say I was surprised. Their big annual event for Noir members is next weekend and the holiday weekend is two weeks away. So I guess most people stayed home and are saving their trips for the next couple weekends. Fine by me. Fewer gamblers meant we had no trouble getting seats at the tables we liked.

After dropping our stuff in the suite, we headed downstairs. I realized I have not been to Tunica in several months and noticed a handful of small changes at Goldstrike. They have refurbished the elevators, which was a nice touch. Once we got downstairs, we walked in the high limit, found a double deck table with no players, and grabbed two seats. They raised the minimum for me and we started to play. I took out a marker for $20k and things started very poorly. After half an hour I was down $14k. So with my final $6k, I bet $3k each on two spots and won both hands! After that, the tide turned. In total, after an hour and a half of play, I walked away form the table up $5k.

A host made us a reservation at the Steakhouse so we walked there for dinner. The restaurant was almost empty. Granted, it was late, but we could tell the staff didn't want to stay late waiting on us. So we ate pretty quickly. The menu has changed a little since I was there, which was nice. Two menu upgrades in one year, after being the same for many years in a row. The meal was decent and we were out of there before midnight.

After dinner, we went upstairs to the non-smoking casino area. We played a little VP at a dollar machine. I made a quick $50 and decided to call it a night. We were both exhausted after a long day of work and travel.

We woke up around 9 on Saturday and hit the breakfast buffet. After that, I made the mistake of hitting the craps table and dropped a quick $3500. After that, we went back to the high limit, sat down at a BJ table and started playing. I was betting $500 to $1000 a hand and pretty soon, another young guy joined us at the table. He was an obvious card counter betting anywhere between $100 and $800 a hand. His counting was so obvious that I was a little surprised they did not stop him. I started counting hi-lo with him, but didn't really vary my bets much. Played for an hour and won back my craps losses and then some. After that, I hit the gym for an hour.

The GS gym has new machines, which was nice. They clearly don't get used very often, so they are in great shape. Cleaned up after the workout and played a little more BJ. My gf wanted to play poker, so I gave her some money and we walked over to Horseshoe . She played for a couple hours and I won $600 playing green chip craps. Then we went back to GS. Won some more, grabbed some snacks in the VIP lounge, and watched the second half of the Alabama game. My host gave us tickets to the GS box at the Fed Ex forum for the Grizzles game. So after the Bama game, we went downstairs, hopped in a limo, and rode up to Memphis for the game. They played Detroit, who is just awful. I think SVG will get them turned around eventually, but they just don't have the players to compete with tops teams. Memphis played mediocre, but the game was never really in doubt. And since I have an Over bet for the number of Memphis wins this season, I was pretty happy with the result.

Once we got back to the GS, we grabbed some sushi at the buffet, played a little more VP and then went back to the room and packed up. I cashed in on the way upstairs. Up almost $19k for the trip! So now I have a good chunk of change for my Wynn trip this coming weekend. We got up at sunrise Sunday morning and drove home through the rain. Other than the weather, it was a great trip!

When the gf asks for a quickie (trip), the Caviar Kid rides again!

Thanks for the write-up. Hope to bump into you again in Vegas sometime.

There were empty seats in the upper level of the Forum. Grizz tickets are pretty easy to score except for the biggest games.

Definitely. Either this coming weekend at Wynn or in a couple weeks when BeeJay is in town. Will send you a message later this week. Keep the tables hot for me!

So you went to Tunica while the first group went to VEGAS. Good TR. I have not gone to Tunica I usually go to Biloxi. I'm just too tired to try to go back to Vegas this week.

Good hit on $19k. I'm sure you will win even more in Vegas this weekend.

    Good luck.

Nice trip report UK. But what I want to know is why doesn't the GF get to come to Vegas? Tunica is not a good enough substitute!!! Hope to run into you at NYNY in a couple of weeks!

lol, she does! Problem is, she has a boss (and I don't). So she can't exactly get away every week like I do. But I think she is going to come with me to Cosmo in mid-December. As for NYNY, let me know if you're around that weekend and not engaged in another four hour dinner :poke: Wynn this coming weekend, then home for Thanksgiving, then NYNY the next weekend, and then probably Cosmo the weekend after that. I should really just pull a Nate and stay out there for the whole month!

I was thinking the same thing I flew out and back so many times it might be better to just stay there. I was going to try to fly out this weekend but he flying has taken its toll on me and I'm all drained out so Can't make it back this weekend. Would have been better to just stay there.

    Good luck in Vegas

Thanks. My longest ever trip was seven days and I was wiped by the end. I don't mind the long flight so its just better to take a few days at home to recover
