    My Trip Report

We took a weekend trip to our local Isle for a Sock Hop and gambling. The Sock Hop was Friday night and once we got that out of the way, we hit the bar for a drink and then on to the casino.

This being a two day trip, I thought I would take it easy the first night so I only took $700 with me to the casino. After playing three different Wild Pandas, I was broke before midnight. I should have gone to bed or at least to the room to visit the safe. Instead, I spent the $3 and took $500 out of the ATM.

Now on tilt, I decide to take a shot knowing I was well bankrolled for Saturday. I played a couple $2 slots at full coin and then four one coin spins on a $5 Double Diamond Deluxe. On the last spin, I hit Bar-Double Diamond-Bar for $100 and a $100 profit.

Next, I head straight to the Mississippi Stud table and forego my usual $100 buy in and $5 bets. Instead, I buy in for $200, bet $10, and get Ace-King on the first hand. A board of King-King-Ace gives me a quick $800 win. Pocket Kings a few hands later gives me another $100 win and I cash out up $800. I head to the bar for a couple of beers after salvaging a $200 win on the day.

Saturday we actually left the casino for lunch (and paid for it!) and some shopping. I allocated most of the profit for a new bowling ball but of course paid by credit card so as not to use my cash. Back at the casino, I managed a couple of small slot wins.

They were opening the second Mississippi Stud table so I sat down and played solo for a few hands before another player and then Buzzette joined me. In this session before dinner, I hit not one but two more full houses. First my Queen-Six was joined by a Queen-Six-Six for $400 and then my pocket Eights were joined by King-Eight-King for $500 more. I started this session betting $10 but had dropped to $5 before hitting these. I cashed out a profit of $805. No pic.

I played a few more random slots with wins and losses before and after dinner before deciding to try the Mississippi Stud table in the main pit. I was maintaining my $100 buy in with small wins betting just the $5 minimum when I got pocket Threes. Basic strategy is to max bet a small pair on 3rd street if no one else has a Three so I did. A Five was no help but a Five on 4th street was so I was able to max bet the last. And the dealer turned up a third Five for another full house and $400 win. That’s an unbelievable FOUR FULL HOUSES in just a little over 24 hours.

Now it’s just past midnight and I had turned that $3 ATM fee into a nice chunk of cash and had not had to visit the safe in the room. Soon, I notice Buzzette playing a slot nearby so I keep playing.

A few hands later I again get pocket Threes. Again, no one has a Three so I max bet. This time the dealer flips a Three on 3rd street so I am able to max bet the rest of the way. The Five on 4th street is a little eerie but doesn’t help. BUT, the THREE on 5th street fills the QUAD for $2000!!!

I hit the bar for beers and then lost a bit on a couple of two coin $5 slots before calling it a night.

In the end, the $3 ATM fee turned a $700 loss into a $3105 win for the weekend. I hit four full houses and Quad Threes in about 25 hours for a $4005 profit on Mississippi Stud. Just wow.

Does the casino deal the cards face-up such that you could check other players' cards for threes?

They do not deal face-up but let players show or discuss their cards.

I've been wanting to give MS stud a try but damn that variance is rough. I see it in Louisiana at several place, is it anywhere in vegas?

Just about all CET properties. Also Four Queens (October) and M (May).

You are right, it's at 31 of 37 CET casinos including all Vegas locations. Its a highly successful game, but its standard deviation is twice that of UTH. Easily the swingiest table game.
