Meeting a Host : Dont be shy try it its worth a shot

It was trip #6 to Vegas for me, learned about comps and host mostly from this site

I was staying at the flamingo oct 8-14 using a bingo tournament offer i got comped wed fri-sat-sun-mon and got charged 31$ for the thursday(???)+ resort fees+a buffet i owned the about 225$

I looked for the host office for a while then found it and probably paced infront of it for 20 minutes before getting in cause i was so nervous and didnt really know what to expect

Host was super nice and cute young woman i ask her if some stuff could be taken off my bill cause of my play

She typed on her computer for a while and told me she could take off 150$ ( i would have been happy with the 31$ or the buffet) she made a phone call( no idea to who) asked if i wanna use my RC i said sure i still owned them about 20$ and she tells me well since there's no tip she will cover it too so my balance is 0.00$

I got all worked up over nothing and saved 225$ so dont hesitate to go and speak with them

 

What's there to be nervous about? Worst case ontario they simply say no we can't take any charges off.

But well worth the time to save $225 bucks.

 

Not sure what you were nervous about either, that's what the hosts are there for but good you got over your fear.

But I don't think I understand what she did for you. Did she use your RCs to pay for all but the remaining $20? You don't need to see a host to use your RCs towards your bill. The benefit you want from them is to comp your charges without touching your RCs. Unless I misunderstood and that is what she did for you.

 

At first she took off 150$, then asked if i wanted to use the 50$ i had in RC i said yes and then she said since there just 20$ left with no tips she would also cover the rest

 

As long as one doesn't act entitled, there is no reason to be scared or to think "oh I don't gamble enough to get anything comped". It only takes the host or players club desk 5 minutes to run the numbers and something is better than nothing. And if you didn't play enough to get anything, so what? They don't look down on you or think you're scum, it's business.

 

I was nervous the first time I talked to a host. I don't like hearing "no", so I kept myself out of the situation. After spending some time on VMB I decided to go for it.

It's all based on theoretical loss and the general rule for comps is roughly 30 to 40% of the theoretical loss. Different properties and different hosts use different numbers.

 

I was really nervous the first time too, but I did what most guys do, I sent the wife.

Well done. I've spent a lot more a day and gotten less comps. Though that was before I had that fine gentleman named Hunter booking my rooms. With that said, I could almost guarantee you that if you had that same budget over at Mlife, they wouldn't have done much for you. I remember a few trips ago I probably lost 2500 over 4 nights and owed like $250 on my room, they wouldn't do a thing for me. They used my $30.00 in express comps and wouldn't do a damn thing else. And thus, I haven't stayed with an Mlife property since.

 

I stayed at the MGM Grand for my last day with the same bankroll when checking out i just asked if i had played enough to get the resort fees waived , she made the call and i was told NO

 

Hi, what type of video BJ you played? Last year I played multi hands video BJ at P.H. for about three hours, I lost about $10 but earned 200-300 base points.

 

I play the big machine with 5-6 chairs at 5$ minimum bet

 

I highly recommend talking to a host before you checkout. I'm a very nervous person as well when I have to talk to people at stores or over the phone, but I tried it last trip at Aria and got 3 nights comped and almost all the rest of my charges comped. Just had a few tips and some pool party charges from another Mlife hotel leftover that they couldn't comp. I was really surprised as I don't have a huge bankroll and played mostly 99.17% VP and some BJ, no carnival games and only a tiny amount on slots. They didn't use any of my Express Comps.

If you're nervous about walking into the host's office and talking to a host directly you can go to the Mlife desk before you checkout and they will contact the host on duty for you to check your play. Not sure how it is for other Vegas casinos, though.

 

My last trip to Bally's I just went into the Diamond check in room (even though I am not Diamond) asked the host to clear my charges and he did, except for the tips. He didn't seem to care that I wasn't Diamond, so I don't know if I should have done something different but it worked.

 

Tier-level doesn't matter. It's your ADT that counts for comps. But in reality, if your ADT is high, you reach the higher tier levels faster.

 

I always tell people to at least give it a shot. I am a low roller and spend $1,500 - 2k per trip playing blackjack at $15-25 per hand. I have established a relationship with a host at Wynncore and she always covers at least my food and beverage and gives me one free night and the rest at the casino rate every time. I am sure to tell her how much I appreciate it each and every time. I am always sure to ask politely if "there is anything she can do up front" before booking my trips. Well worth the shot I took at introducing myself to her!
