I'm thinking about my next trip to Vegas. This will be my 1st non-solo trip in the last couple of years. Last time, I stayed at MGM so that's where I seem to be getting offers but since my BF is coming and this will be his 1st trip back to Vegas in about 10 years I want to do something nice too. We are looking to go at the very end of March / early April. I'm in my mid 40s and he just turned 50 so we don't need a party scene. We both play a mix of table games and slots. We like a mix of high and mid range restaurants. I have asthma so that was one reason I was looking at Vdara.

These are my options (all prices are for 4 nights total including tax and resort fee):
    MGM Executive King $516
    MGM Tower Spa $577
    MGM 1 BR Tower $600
    Vdara Vdara suite $787
    Vdara Executive Corner $918
    Vdara Panorama $1016
Aria Corner or Tower (price coming out the same) $1207

I've stayed in all of the MGM rooms listed before, plus a Tower Suite at the Mirage, std king at Palazzo, and both the studio and 1 BR at Signature. I've never stayed at Aria or Vdara so I'm struggling to decide if they are worth the extra cost.

I definitely recommend Vdara, stayed there about 6-7 times now, close to lots of good food at Bellagio, Cosmo and Airia, have you considered a City Corner Suite?

I did look at that one. From the virtual tours, I'm having a hard time telling the difference between some of the suites at Vdara. They seem very similar to me. The city corner came in between the Vdara and executive corner price wise at $824 for the 4 nights.

katmu, I will bow to Frank's expertise on Vdara since he has stayed there... and I have looked at a video of one of their more fancy rooms, which look great, and maybe I will stay there at some point...but there are three minuses from what I have read: 1. walking distance to the strip; 2. lack of restaurants onsite; and 3. lack of a casino and the resort feel (it seems like it is just a residence).

I would choose Aria. I am 59, so am not looking for a party atmosphere, either, but I do like the incredible feel of the place (shops, casino, restaurants, live theater with Cirque du Soleil), not to mention the great rooms and its location of being in the middle of the strip (except all the fast food places, drug stores, and whatnot all seem to be on the opposite side of the street and you have to cross several bridges to get to them!).

Also, if you are an M-Life member, be sure to check out their deals. They have a special on now through the end of the year, I believe (but must be booked by the end of this month), where you book at least 2 nights and you get $140 resort credit. A corner suite for the period I am there would be $200 a day, so it would be $400 - $140 resort credit, amounting to $260 (at5 the m

I would say just about any of the suites at Vdara would be nice - unless you want something particular. Only thing I would want is higher floor so you are not looking directly at Bellagio Spa Tower, and possibly a view of the Bellagio Fountains.

it's as close to the strip as Aria basically, because it's 90 Degrees around that elevated circle with Aria, so a short 300 ft walk and your inside aria on one side and Bellagio on the other with Cosmo a short flight of stairs down in the middle

unless you're not counting the walk inside Aria's casino to get to the strip, it's a much smaller place but with full kitchens and full size fridges (not stupid mini bars) which makes reheating any expensive leftovers famtastic, since you can order plates and cutlery for free

but for someone with Asthma (or in my case 3 kids all 7 and younger) it's a much more relaxed place to do the sleeping/pool/relaxing part of a week long vegas trip, vs say a guys or solo weekend

anything above a deluxe will be fine, I think the benefits of the Executive or Panoramic suites over the City Corner aren't worth it and the Hospitality Suite while nice, is kinda overkill (but still glad I did it once)

Not commenting on the price, but based on what it seems you are looking for, I would suggest Aria of these three. MGM and Aria have the gambling. Vdara, of course, does not have a casino. Do you really want to walk over from Vdara to Aria each time you want to gamble. plus, Aria has an excellent selection of mid and upper end restaurants. With Haze closing, it will have less of a party scene than MGM. And I hate smoke, but have never had any problems at aria. The ventilation systems there are excellent.

I feel the same way. All it takes for me when I am on the slots is to have someone sit down nearby with a cigarette or even just walk by. Totally awful smell. I have to get out of the area immediately.

vdara. is a must. was there this summer. wife loved it. no casino so very quiet. no smoking. great for the breathing. close to all area stuff your already familiar with by mgm. small pool if that's your thing. you can cut thru bellgio or front door thru aria to catch tram. if you go out and walk to strip. you gotta cut thru cosmo which I thought was long walk but wife did not mind. but it's 100 degrees when we we're there. oh. cosmo is also nice stayed there year before.

Thank you for all the replies so far. I think I'm definitely down to Aria or Vdara.

I did not have an issue with the smoke in the casino at Aria last trip. Although if a smoker sits down right next to me, I do need to move. I have not had an asthma attack in Vegas but I always carry my inhaler just in case.

Great choice. spent alot of time on aria when I stayed at vdara. still like the vdara vibe better for us anyway. more like a fancy hotel if that's what u like nice and quiet. aria looked really nice. but still alot of hustle bustle. so if your hotel is a place to retreat to after the hustle vdara all the way. if does not matter the either.
Either way both are great and vegas rocks. so enjoy and have fun.

Those Vdara prices seem really $$$, especially for the Vdara and Corner Suites. Awesome rooms, and maybe that's the price for the weekend you're going, but I've paid far less for them.

    --Edit--
Sorry, I more closely read your post, those prices are for 4 nights.

I think the Vdara corner suite is definately worth the small upcharge vs. the regular Vdara suite.

I have stayed in the Vdara Exec Corner and just recently the Aria Corner. Personally, I like staying at a casino, so I prefer aria over vdara, for ease of gambling. Vdara is not far at all, so if you do not mind a short walk, I think the room offers more. Both have long walks down the hallway. Both have controls for operating the sheers and blackout curtains. Vdara will have a usable kitchen and washer/dryer, if you need it.

I have not stayed in a tower suite in Aria yet, but if I had a choice between that or a corner suite again, I would personally try the tower suite. The corner suite is not worth the walk for me.

Out of those and strictly speaking about rooms, I would choose the Vdara panoramic or corner suite. Despite not having a casino Vdara is awesome. You are between Bellagio and Aria. Both easy access for eating and gambling.

just want to add one indelicate comment on Vdara bathrooms, they are all open toilet master baths (e.g. no toilet door or fan), fine for a quick pee for a married couple, but...yeah

Buuut, vdara suite also has a guest bath (toilet and sink with an actual honest to god door) and I believe the exec corner and panoramic have a guest bath as well

just a little info that the virtual tours don't show

Aria for sure. You won't even notice the smoke and there is tons to do.
