Haven't seen any updates here recently but are there any places in LV that have 3-2, no doubling restrictions BJ other than El Cortez and 4 Queens?

    As far as I know, 4-Queens' single-deck is 6:5

As for the El-Co game? It's 3:2, but there is either no DAS, or it's double on 9-10-11 only...something like that.

In my opinion, the 2-deck game is far better anyway because of the cut...
Most place cut away 40-50%, essentially leaving you one-deck-dealt game. I like that.

Cut away half of a single deck? You'll often only get 2 or 3 hands per deck, depending on the number of players.

For under $25, the 2-deck games at El-Co, LVC, Plaza & Gold Coast are about as good as you'll find: 3:2, H17, DAS.
Gold Coast is a pitch game & they cut away about half, (although I've run into a dealer or two that cut away less! Shhh!)
The others deal from a shoe & use a pre-set notch for determining the cut-card point...and it's set at about 40% or so (just guessing) - but that's leaving 60% of the cards in play.
I like all of those games, but I have to say that a 60% penetration 2-deck shoe has some definite advantages, namely being that all player cards are dealt face-up.
If you tend to pay attention the cards that have been dealt in order to determine how much to bet on the next hand, this can make that a bit easier.

Hard to beat the two deck games at El Cortez.

I'm not following...wouldn't the 2 deck game be better because of the cut, if they cut away less? The deeper the penetration, the better.

The best way to look at this is: How much of the total deck(s) is in play.
When I refer to 'penetration', I mean how deep is the cut.
    For example - 60% penetration = cutting away 40%.
The less they cut away, the more meaningful your tracking will be, as when the remaining cards favor you, you are more likely to get a few hands from that point.
I have found that most two-deck games are cut at roughly the 50% mark.
I find that this is still preferable to any single-deck game, where you're lucky to get even 26 cards in play.

What I like about the two-deck shoe games at El-Co, Plaza & LVC is that the cut-point is pre-set...and it's set at about 60% penetration...perhaps a tad more.
Whatever it actually is, it's more than 50% and it is consistent.
Additionally, with all of the player-cards dealt face-up, keeping track is less work, as you can keep a running count as each hand is unfolding, (as opposed to having to quickly account for the cards as the dealer flips over each hand at the end.)

Another reason I don't care for single-deck is that you will almost certainly give up player-favorable rules...no DAS.., double on 10/11 only... blackjack paying 6:5... usually one or more these apply to a single-deck game.

For the majority of us-who don't count-the SD game at El Cortez is far, far superior. As long as there are no doubling restrictions which there never have been. I will see for myself next month if they do or don't.

    Please let me know.
I remember there being some sort of rule difference between their single & double-deck game.
I thought it was no DAS, but it could be that it's a limit of 9/10/11 or 10/11 for doubling.

You will get heat on the single deck at El Cortez or matter fact you will get heat on any BJ game at El Cortez even if you have narrow bet spreads. If you are just playing to have fun then yes, but don't expect to count and expect to take any substantial money off the table they will back you off. Not picking on El Cortez but this will happen at most downtown establishments.

Single deck downtown and any DD on the strip with good rules are all obvious counting traps. The DD $25 with decent rules at Mirage just outside the HL area is the biggest trap in Vegas. I watch them walk players every trip

I never had any trouble at the DD game. Sure, I've had some pit scrutiny, but I've never been backed-off.
Of course, my spreads are miniscule compared to most others, never betting more than $40. That could very well make the difference.

I've never played this table, but I've been tempted for quite some time.
Question: Do you think they'd pretty much ignore my play if I kept my spread from $25 to $75?
If so, then I'll give them a try.
A 3-unit spread can still make money...just not a lot.

3 unit spread wont draw alot of heat unless you start winning big. Yes, it is possible even betting greens. Then they will flat bet you and/or back you off.

It's all about the right timing and opportunity. If you can catch the right count when the pit isnt paying as much attention, spread, pocket a few chips so when you color up it doesnt look bad and make sure to tip the dealer, you'll be fine and draw no heat. That the name of the game
