Pacific Northwest casinos?

I noticed quite a few Pacific Northwesterners on the board and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for casino's in the Puget Sound area. Fun places, friendly places, or just places with good gaming conditions?

I live in Seattle and I go to Tulalip Casino pretty often, which seems to be the closest to a Vegas casino you can get in Washington. Been to Snoqualmie Casino a few times as well. I like the crappy small card rooms in the area too as I like to play a lot BJ and other table games. Dive's can be fun as long as I don't think I'll get jumped walking out of it. I've heard BC has casino's as well, but I've never been to any in all my trips to Vancouver, so interested if anyone has experience with any of those or what the conditions are like.

aaisack did a great write up about Emerald Queen recently. Depending where in Puget Sound you are there are a couple routes to get there and it can be a bit of a drive.

I have been to the Tulalip and the Harrahs up north and I probably won't go back to any local casino.

For me the local Washington casinos are just real tight. I could put a $20 in a 25 cent slot machine in Vegas and expect to play for a little while, at Tulalip my couple of 20s each lasted 5 minutes or less. No comped drinks and very little excitement.

I like to gamble in Vegas but I don't waste my time at the local places they just seem so boring to me. I guess for me just having some form of gambling is not enough,I like the whole atmosphere of Vegas.

I sometimes go to Great American Casino (ironically named) in Tukwilla because it's super close. It's just a card room with Baccarrate, pai gow, blackjack, UTH, three card poker, Spanish 21, etc. But they have always been friendly and the burgers are pretty good, not scary at all. Haven't ventured into the others South of Seattle so maybe those are a bit more sketchy.

 

I've actually had pretty good luck on the slots at Snoqualmie and Tulalip, but again I play mostly table games and so maybe I've just had some good variance in the small amount of slot play I've done. At least with table games you know what the house edge is. In Washington the return on slots can be as low as 75%! If I could make two changes to gambling laws here is I would allow comp drinks and allow for real video poker.

Totally agree that you won't find a Vegas atmosphere... I'm not looking for a Vegas replacement, but more of something to calm my gambling itch in-between trips!

I like Tulalip because comps seems to be OK and it's not too far, it's big, has all the table games I want to play, plus slots when I'm in the mood, restaurants have been good, and I like to take a break sometimes at the mall next door.

 

Yeah I can't image going from Kitsap. I get $99 room offers regularly, and I go about once a month. I wonder what you have to do get a comp room! Have you ever been to the Clearwater casino?

 

I live in NY but go to Vancouver a few times per year and have stayed and played at River Rock during the last two trips, most recently was just a couple of weeks ago. I stay there just for the hotel (it is super close to the airport with a direct skytrain) and consider the casino just a nice side-option to gamble a little pocket money if I have time. It's nice place, its a real resort with a lot of nice amenities. There are two hotel towers, I've stayed in both. The main one is all suites I believe and they were pretty nice, the one across from it (connected by skybridge or a 5 second walk across the street) is regular rooms but has a bit more of a hipper and modern decor and feel. The skytrain stop to the airport is connected to this tower.

The gambling is pretty decent, lots of BJ with fairly good rules, lots of baccarat, and all the traditional games and major carny games. The VP wasn't too bad either, basically Vegas strip type paytables. They have a players club but I haven't really used it.

As far as converting cash what you can do is convert your USD to CAD at the cage and get a receipt. You will have until 5:30am to buyback your USD at the same rate. In fact you will get the exact same bills back and you can only buy back the entire amount. So if you convert $1000 USD and you want it back before 5:30am you need to buy back the entire $1000. It is therefore better to do something like 2 $500 transactions or even a bunch of smaller ones. The cashier will likely advise you of that as well.

 

We go to Little Creek in Shelton. The non smoking area has been redone and is larger now. They also have a great sea food bar. Lucky Eagle is closer to us but I don't get the juju there.

 

Thanks, haven't heard of this place. Usually just stay downtown when I go to Vancouver but might swing by this place on my next trip!

 

Quil Ceda Creek Casino

BTW went by Quil Ceda Creek casino on my way to Tulalip this weekend. They don't have a ton of table games, but boy is it packed with slots! Everyone was super friendly. Got a t-shirt and a pitcher/glassware set for signing up for the players card. Won $50 bucks on a Buffalo machine. Played a bit of their DD BJ and did pretty well, though they only let you double on 9-10-11 so it's about a 0.57% game. Very smokey though, compared to other places I've played.
