A reliable poster on another forum claims that Monte Carlo blackjack is now 6:5 except for high limit. Can someone from VMB verify? He claims the switch was made in the past two weeks. If Monte Carlo has been conquered by the 6:5 disease, who's next? Luxor? MGM Grand?

I've played 3:2 there for sure back on April @ $25. Up by the door it's all 6:5, but try the inner row tables in the middle of the casino.

Edit: missed the last two weeks note :(

Wouldn't surprise me one bit. But it'll be sad nonetheless.

They've had mostly 6:5 for a while now, but that "main pit" that is always open even at the slowest of times that is across from Brand Steakhouse was still all 3:2 as of a couple weeks ago.

I'm guessing this is the thread where you saw this information:

    http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g45963-i10-k7712108-6_5_has_infected_Monte_Carlo-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html

It quickly devolves into a crabby, unhelpful conversation. So I do hope that some VMBer stops by MC soon to confirm this report.

I stayed at Aria in June, but most of my blackjack was the $10 3:2 game at MC. All of the tables right by the Street of Dreams were $5 6:5 games and were always very busy (with a big sign saying "$5 Blackjack!").

I was at the Monte Carlo on August 2nd and 3rd and they had 3:2 tables on the main floor. BTW the $5 Blackjack sign is only for the table right next to the sign. I've seen the other tables move to $10 later in the day.

This is correct. Stayed at MC July 28 - Aug 1. There was always a 3:2 table in the middle row. Starts out some mornings at $5/hand and moves to $10/hand mid-morning.

Last time I stayed there I had a chat with one of the BJ dealers about this exact thing. I said it was nice that they still had $10 3-2 tables. She said Monte going to all 6:5 was inevitable....

I'm currently staying here, sat down at a table and found out the hard way that the table was 6:5... First hand out I got a blackjack, I told the dealer that I think she mispaid me, and she ppointed out the 6:5. I colored up and left.

I did not see any 3:2 tables there at all.

Correction: they do have 3:2 in the high limit table lounge. $50 min.

I was there a month ago, and there were plenty of 3:2 at the $15 and $25 levels. They wisely put the 6:5 in the prominent spots where someone just passing by might plop down and donate some money. During slow periods, I have seen $10 3:2 tables there as well. Just look or ask the dealer, and don't sit at the crappy ones.

Interestingly enough the new 6:5 payout is printed directly on the felt of the main floor tables, so it's not possible For them to offer it specific times or at specific denominations (except in high limit).

yes, true, but I think seviay meant he saw 3:2 that was @ $10 as opposed to 3:2 that was at much higher limits, not that they changed the 3:2 to 6:5 when it got busy; when I was there in June there were maybe 2 or 3 3:2 tables, one auto, one shoe (at least), they were as the other poster said, way up the line by Brand. For the most part they remained $10 weekdays while I was there.

Yes, this. I know of the tables that say 6:5. Read the table, and if you still aren't sure, ask the dealer. There are plenty of 3:2 tables on the main floor that will vary between $10-25, depending on the time of day

I was in Vegas last week and it definitely appears that it's all 6:5 now on the main floor. I can't speak for the high limit.

If true, is there ANY reason to gamble there anymore? I'll try to look when I'm there. It's not on my calendar, but I'm staying at MC for 2 nights inbetween PHo and MB.

Nope - absolutely no reason to.

I used to play BJ there a lot - one of the last best low limit 3:2 places on the strip.

Agreed. I am planning to walk through MC when I am in Vegas in Sept and confirm that this is true. If so I will probably try to confirm with a pit boss and let them know that they have lost my business with this apparent change - and this was also a place that I liked and that I played at some during each trip to Vegas. It is kind of funny that for the last few years CET casinos have been the ones to take most of the heat for the spread of 6:5 crapjack - but it is an MGM property that appears to be the first to completely eliminate 3:2 from their main casino floor.

And lately CET has been loosening up their rules on BJ a bit from what I've read (e.g. Bally's "high limit" room.) Definitely not what I expected.
