I like it if you can get it free or cheap, great location. I've only stayed in GO rooms, and never had any issues. The only thing I dislike is the parking garage, hard to find a spot on busy nights. Will be there again in November.

We've stayed there twice (both comped). Once in a GO room and it was lovely with a view of the fountains. Another time in a regular room -- it was adequate but nothing fancy, no view ... it was okay.

I would stay there again although I don't know how it is right now with talk of all the construction in that area.

I have no problem with the Flamingo and I too have only stayed in Go rooms so I can't comment on any others. As long as you get a decent price and don't expect it to rival Wynn, Bellagio, etc. you should be fine. A room for me is basically a place to sleep and change if I need to, so take that into consideration. I stayed in a Go room earlier this year for around $160 for four nights (this was before the resort fees were implemented) and it was perfectly acceptable.

Though it's been several years since I last slept there, it's a fun property and a killer location!!! It gets plenty of "love" here on the board.

One man's pigsty is another man's palace.
So it depends on your tolerance, from my own experience after a couple of stays there in the past I will not stay there again because of customer service issues.
If you can get Harrahs or Ballys for the same price, I would chose them first over the Flaming-O, but that's just my 2 cents.

I've stayed there three times (GO room twice, suite once) and am staying there again in November. I love the place. It's simple and the location can't be beat.

Op- is it comped? Hopefully the current sewage issues will be resolved by then??

We stayed once in a GO room, loved it - 2nd time in a deluxe room and it was awful! Could not sleep, bed was like rocks, and customer service was the worst. Then again, our home is The Aria.. :peace:

Personally I prefer the quad over standard flamingo rooms the go rooms are decent but unless it was free I prefer anything other then flamingo except harrahs due to a horrible experience at harrahs. That being said it has a great location and the rooms are serviceable

No offense meant but definitely do a search of the Strip forum here and you will find more topics about Flamingo than ANY hotel in all of Vegas. We have all been there, we all have stayed there and we all have differing opinions of it. You will find hundreds upon hundreds opinions about Flamingo here :)

If Flamingo is the hotel that falls at the high end of your budget it is definitely a fine place to stay. Please just book the GO Room in advance, it seems that over 50% of people who do not book the GO room end up reviewing Flamingo as dirty, bland, you get what you pay for etc. Don't bank on the $20 trick at the front desk scoring you an upgrade and the upgrade to the GO Room down the road will cost you more than booking it up front. I have gone through it several times.

You are going in December, therefore pools are no factor. Hotels like Harrah's and Planet Hollywood are in the same tier and become much more attractive options in the winter because their pools are nothing special come summer time so definitely look into them if you are looking for lively properties (Planet Hollywood obviously more so and a better location with all of the construction surrounding Flamingo right now) I personally go Flamingo only in the summer because the pool is fun. The rest of the property is just okay, food options are just blah, and night life options are non existent.

To sum up, no matter what anyone says Flamingo is perfectly fine. Just book the GO room and you will thank us all. If you have a little more money to spread around just keep your eyes open on the promotions that pop up for other hotels. I assume Mirage will fall close to Flamingo depending on the weekend/week (minus resort fees) and that is a much nicer property.

    Best of luck!

Yea for me- I stay there by choice when I'm staying on the strip. The recent renovations were a challenge, but it might be a good time to start a relationship, so that when the Linq and all that come on line, you'll be well placed.

I stayed at the Flamingo in a "GO Luxury with View" room back in November 2011...

The Flamingo does have a nice location, I will give it that... but overall I thought the place was a dump.

We didn't have any problems or issues with our stay, actually in the end the staff treated us pretty well and comped everything off our bill and left our Rewards Credits intact for us to go blow at the gift shop.

    Some thoughts from our stay:

    - The bed was comfortable, better than the beds at Monte Carlo or Luxor but not as good as the beds at Aria or Excalibur.

    - The bathroom in our room was really nicely done.

    - The view was right out to The Strip, but problem is the window was dirty and it had that big wrap on the side of the building.

    - The overall look to the room was ugly, mostly white and pink, lots of white and pink stripes. Though the room was upgraded (being a GO room) it looks like the carpet was probably the same carpet that was there a couple of decades ago. Furnishings were OK and the room came with a fridge.

    - The common areas of the hotel are in horrible shape. The floors in the hallways creak and moan with every step, the walls needed paint jobs, the brass in the elevators looked like it hadn't been wiped, let alone polished, in years and there were just things like scratches and key marks and bangs and dings everywhere from years and years of traffic.

    - If you are a visitor to the casino I think its great... all the table games and newest slots are all right up front there with quick and easy access to The Strip - just walk in and you are in the heart of the best part of the casino. Problem is: if you are a guest when you step out of the elevators the nearest table games are a long walk away and the slots that they have nearest the guest elevators are ancient crap with burned out monitors, broken speakers and gummed up machines.

    - When we stayed the food court was brand new. I do like the overall selection, they got most of the bases covered, but the restaurants in there were all higher end ones so its pretty pricey for a food court (IE: Johnny Rockets instead of McDonalds or Burger King, LA Subs instead of Quiznos or Subway, Pan Asian Express instead of Panda Express, Bonano's instead of Sbarro's or Pizza Hut).

Personally I wouldn't stay there again. Our room was comped so it didn't cost us anything, but I can just find better places to stay than that.

    Pro's:
    • Location
    • Price
    • Pool (obviously not a concern for a December trip)

    Con's
    • Gaming - less than favorable odds at tables, can't comment on slots
    • Small Sportsbook
    • Room/Food quality
    • Construction nearby (maybe someone could elaborate if this is actually an issue right now

Since we do a lot of our gaming at home base, the bad table odds (lots of 6/5BJ tables for example) and changes to CET comps have pushed us to MGM properties.

With all that said, we stayed at the Flamingo 3 times since '06 and never had a bad experience. The location alone is great for center strip, but I'm not sure if construction going on now for Linq is putting a damper on that, especially since 2 of our favorite nearby casinos (Bill's and O'Sheas) are currently closed.

I just booked a comp night there in April, midweek. It is only one night before we catch a flight so I wasn't too picky. Hopefully it is not a horrible start to our vacation. We like MGM properties so this will be our first experience staying with CET.

GO rooms are great and the $20 trick has worked for me. No guarantees though. Request a room where you can't hear the music from Carlos and Charlie's unless you don't mind being kept awake until 3am Thursday to Sunday.

    Yea

I've stayed there 3x in recent years including the past July, and have never had a bad experience.

    The Good:
    Location. Love the location.
GO Rooms. At the right price, these are a great value. I've stayed in the GO/View rooms every time, and they're great.
Pool: crowded, especially during the summer, but great atmosphere

    The Bad:
Parking: finding a spot in the garage on a weekend during the summer can be a a problem. During the week, not a problem though.

Casino: gaming rules, especially 6:5. Don't usually gamble there though.

Location: sandwiched between Linq & Bill's construction. The Linq construction was more of an impact last year. Walking north past IP to Harrah's was congested, but now that they've opened up the Quad, it's no big deal. The biggest impact, imo, is the closure of the entrance to Flamingo off LVB. Walking by Bill's over to Bally's was a little congested, but not that bad.

Stayed there a half dozen times, most recently this past April. I like Flamingo. Then again, I like all hotels that are totally comped such as Paris, PH, and Rio.

I usually get a Go room, sometime with a killer view, sometimes not. But I really don't care about the view of my room. Yes, the first thing I do when entering the room is open the shades to see what the view is. If nice, I'll take a couple pics. If not, I'll tell the wife "Nice view of the parking lot". Rooms for me are to sleep, period.

The property itself is average, maybe a bit below average. 'Used' would be the best way to describe it.

I find the buffet there pretty bad when compared to other CET properties.

Location on the strip is probably its best attribute.

Saying all that, where did I stay last? Rio. Where is my next stay? Rio. (but played a lot at Flamingo/Margarittaville.

I have stayed at the Flamingo many times over the past twenty years. I am not a room snob, but always want a little more, just like everyone else. I have stayed in every type of room and suite there. I have not had a problem with any of their rooms on any stay. Always clean. If you are expecting a higher end room. I am not sure they actually have one. The Go rooms are good and the Fab rooms are okay. The suites are large but worn and dated. All passable.
Views vary.My favorite is the Go Luxury With a View of the Fountains, floor 27 or 28. My Vegas is Gambling. Flamingo has fulfilled that itch over the years. It can be a fun casino at times. Hope your stay will be awesome.
