Golden Nugget: Upgrade Above Jr. Corner Suite?
My wife and I just booked the GN for July 8-11 (Sun-Wed). We got a good deal through the GN website on a Rush Tower Jr. Corner Suite for $95/night.
The Website lists the next upgrade as a Parlor Suite which looks to be a big jump up. But, in looking around I found suites called Rush East End Jr. Suite, Gold Tower Suites, Classic Suites, and various other named suites. I am going to be trying to get an upgrade at check-in and wonder what is the next suite up from the Rush Jr. Corner Suite?
Thanks for your help!

We are going to be at the Golden Nugget at the exact same time! We called Casino Marketing and got a rate for $45 for a Carson Room for the same time period. You should try and call 702-386-8201 and see if they can give you a better rate on that same room you are currently booked in. Not sure what's above the Rush Jr Suite though!

The Carson Tower is the oldest of the Nugget's towers and furthest from the casino. They're the Nugget's "basic" room... still, clean and decent, but nothin' fancy. I stayed in a Corner Jr. Suite shortly after the Rush Tower opened and it's a helluva lotta room for $95... not much window or views though. I think all the plush suites are in the north tower though... don't let 'em upgrade you to the Gold Floor in the north tower, those rooms are similar to the Jr. Suites, but not as nice in my opinion, but they have them all on one floor and do a VIP package. They have a cool table off the elevator with candy and water and stuff, but I'd way rather be in the Rush Tower.

I got upgraded once from a Rush Corner Suite to the East End Jr suite. They consider this the next step up. They are very nice, and feature a separate show, and a large soaking tub( not jetted). Huge walk in closet too. This is one of my favorite suites in the place. The only thing missing is a wet bar.
I find the upgrades at the GN to be very inconsistent, considering how it is booked. It depends a lot on who checks you in for sure. The last trip I didn't even ask for one because I wanted to finally try the Gold Club room, which was the last room type for me to try there. For now, I just call the Nuggets reservation number and explain I want just the normal rate cause I am shooting for an upgrade. They do make note I have a Landry's card at that time.
They do have a number of suites that are not listed on their site. No two suites are the same. I have been in (6?) parlor suites now, all different. One even had a large steam shower. I got a tour of some special huge suites on the Penthouse Level of the Rush Tower once. One was named the San Francisco suite, another one had a name I cant recall now. For us common Folk, the Spa Tower is the highest Suite we can book normally. I have stayed once on a promo I couldn't turn down. For my Dw and I, I could never justify the normal cost. For us, we normally just book a regular Rush Tower room, and hope for an upgrade. One time they did put me in a Parlor suite, but that was a while ago now before they got more strict. Otherwise, I would just book the parlor suite . It really depends on the type of trip planned, and length.
But when it comes down to it, I think what really matters is the person checking you in.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful so far.
We actually played at GN once a couple years ago. I believe we played in the HL room that is open air and st8 back from the 24 Karat desk. When I called, they said we had an offer for 2 Nts Comp'd and $100 FP. The 2 Nts are Carson Rm and when applied to the Corner Suite, the room was $109/nt ($139-$30). So, we just booked the $95 to avoid the "pressure" of comp'd rooms.
Jenn, you are right though, I may as well call after the fact and see if we can do better. Otherwise, my plan is to try a $50 bribe at check-in and see what happens.

I'd stick with the $95 Rush tower corner suite. Stayed in one last fall and it's hard to beat. Rush tower is only a couple of years old, I'd be reluctant to end up in an older room. Save your bribe money and have a nice dinner with it.

T-7 day's until we hit Downtown! I am really hoping we can get an upgrade above our reserved Carson Room. We even went out and got a Landry's Card last week so we can try and get into the VIP lounge. Since we're staying a Sunday - Thursday, I am hoping we can get that upgrade to the Rush Tower.
2VegasNuts - want to meet up possibly during the week?

"Pressure"? of comped rooms? We are comped at CET properties nearly every trip we go(30+ trips in 20 yrs)...we are apparently pretty low rollers (250pp/day, no slots, I mostly play TX Hold em poker tournaments; DH mostly horse racing)
Have never once felt any pressure to play...and we don't play exclusively at CET properties, tho wisely over the years we have begun to focus our play at their properties more (helps I like several of their hold em tourneys), we are getting better comped resorts.

Let us know if the upgrade comes through. Looking to get that free upgrade in August.

I called today and was told I can upgrade to a gold tower parlor suite for $20/nt. Is that a bigger room? It would be nice to have something with 2 separate rooms. Maybe I can bounce our way up to the 2 floor Spa Suite : )
