13 Show Seating Suggestions

Note from Sonya - This post was originally written by our resident show expert several years ago. I realize it's gotten a bit dated, but the information here is still solid and useful to many many of our members. Unfortunately, GregRio passed away a few years back and he left some mighty big shoes to fill. I've cleaned up this original post to strike out the shows that are now closed. I considered removing the thread entirely, but the information here is still mostly relevant and helpful.

I go to VEGAS for Shows 1st/Gaming 2nd.
I think I've seen most of the Shows...Like a good CD, I don't listen to it just once, and I see the Shows I like over and over again also.
The following, are 13 Las Vegas Shows that I consistently get questions on in re. to seating locations.
THERE'S LOTS MORE SHOWS TO CHOOSE FROM, but these will get you goin'!

*RULES OF THUMB:
Upper Rear seats are best for CIRQUE Shows...
Down front center for comedians...
Mid Room for music (around the 'sound booth' is always a a good location...it's there for a good reason.) Sound needs room to open up. Up close, the 'vocals' will sound muddy and muffled.
The far LEFT and RIGHT sections in 'most' theaters are pretty poor seats.

*Maitre'D Tipping: They need 'at least' ten bucks, per person, in your party to re seat you to a better location.

Discount Ticket brokers like Goldstar and Travelzoo have great ticket prices, but they're not (always) the better seats (even at VIP levels)
Be prepared to tip your Maitre'D when you use these services.

I buy 99% of my tics, 'rack rate' from the Box Offices.
Do you homework, LOOK AT THE SEATING CHART, have an idea of where you'd like to sit at the price you want to pay and CALL THE BOX OFFICE.
NO website bookings/NO disappointments

these are the area's I suggest and I hope they work for you too. If you don't care for my suggestions, go out and make some of your own, lol.

Probably the most complicated CIRQUE seating chart in town, lol. I suggest the middle section choices, 202 is center. If you prefer the front section with the 'comfy seats' and more leg room, I'd sit mid section to back. Right up front is too close.[/strike]

SECTIONS 102 or 103, ROWS A-D
ZUMANITY also has lots of seating choices. There are 'love seats up front, a balcony which is good, and sections on the sides of the stage.
Because of the configuration of the stage, the side sections limit your view while performers are working the 'front' of the stage. You'll view their profile or back sides for 'some' routines.

PHANTOM: GOLD CIRCLE, ROWS G-M (there's been a rumor that Phantom might be ending it's run. It's just a
rumor at this point, but if you want to see it, NOW'S THE
TIME. Probably some of the best costumes and stage sets

You want the theatre seats...there are some folding chairs.

I prefer the top at Row K. The showroom is in-a-round and the views are good through out. 'IF' there was a 'front of stage', it is sections A and B the Artists face.
SECTION L is the VIP area. Great view, Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries lots of leg room but a bit pricey. You even have your own video screen to watch the underwater action...

I didn't see (our favorite) "Human Nature" on your list? I love booth 207.

we have tickets for the Doobie Brothers at the Hilton - not sure if good seats - we are section 2 Row B seat 25 - hope these are unreal fantastic unbelievable ????

Dont know about seating but I am just very jealous , had tickets to see them 3 years ago at red rock , but missed then due to a late flight,
And now I`ve missed them again , T-25

It's getting close to...HOLIDAZE HIATUS in Las Vegas.
If you're planning on taking in a Show during Nov-Dec...
make sure to check your Show properties' websites for any
DARK weeks due to Christmas.

It's kinda different each year...Some Shows take off in November,
others in December AND...last minute changes are to be expected,
so even if you're booked and have a confirmation number, take that
Box Office phone number with you and CALL IN ADVANCE to make
sure you Show is still on.

You just can't count on the Box Office to call you anymore when
a Show CANCELS.

A couple of the suggestions hold true for more than one show Did you read the list or just count the numbers?

I'm in a dilema here . . . we leave for Vegas on Wednesday and I am planning or was planning on booking tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera. I saw this show probably 16 years ago ( I was in 8th grade and I'm almost 30 ) so it's been awhile. But none the less I loved it!

Here's my issue . . . in July hubby and I were in Vegas and I talked him into seeing The Lion King. I wasn't blown away but it was a good show not all that I had expected but the "performance expectations" were great as well as the costumes. I just kinda left the show feeling like I should have gotten more out of it. Husband was NOT impressed at all and I haven't lived it down since. He actually fell asleep through part of it ( although being up for over 20+ hours didn't help the situation any ).

For a bit of a "male's perspective" do you think that Phantom is a likable show for the male population. I keep trying to convince him that he will love it! And that it's completely different in every way but he thinks it's gonna be a huge waste of money! For the guys out there . . . what is your opinion on this topic. The other option is to leave him back at the hotel and I go alone ( which I really don't want to do but . . .)

And also 1 more thing . . . I'm debating on purchasing front Mezz section seating ( $75) instead of the extra for the Golden Circle tickets (which I can get for $115). Would I be happy with the $75 tickets or is it worth the extra cash for the golden circle tickets?

Gregrio, I was wondering where are the best seats for Human Nature. I can't seem to find a good chart to figure out the good seats for the show.

'hkings01'...If he likes Light Opera, the music and costumes and is familiar
with the Phantom story, he should be impressed. If not, leave him on his own
and YOU ENJOY (you'll both probably have a better time...)
I strongly suggest the Gold Circle seats/centerish.

'tstidm1' For HUMAN NATURE, anywhere back...around the 'Sound Booth' is great.
Down front it too close for great sound...it's 'muddy'.

13 Show Seating Suggestions...

It' kind of time for an up date wouldn't you say?
I know there's been quite a few changes up 'n down
the Strip and there's more coming.

I'm not going to update anything until all the dust settles with all the new Shows coming to town.

Even though I've seen JERSEY BOYS several times, I'll see them at PARIS in a couple weeks and will have updates on that showrooms seating arrangements.
I'll also see SURF the MUSICAL which might become a resident at PLANET HO....ROCK OF AGES, PRICILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, BOOK OF MORMON, FAITH HILL&TIM McGRAW, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, BLUE MAN GROUP, ZARKANA, and......
SPIDER-MAN are all rumors waiting in the wings.

When things settle down, I'll have a good new update.
For now...rule of thumb for seating in the Shows that have changed locations, or new to hit the Strip...MID ROOM CENTERISH is always a winner!
CIRQUE is always best experienced from the UPPER REAR centerish sections.

Remember to look for that 'Sound Booth' on the seating charts if they show it...it's there for good reason!

It's still going to be a while before you see a new seating update.
