Default Update: Cheap beer, MSS bartops

Just to update: The Cal no longer has the $2 Heineken/Corona bottles. Still available at Fremont.
The MSS bar renovation seemed to be a giant cluster-f$$k. The bar didn't reopen until 10am Christmas Day and was totally unstocked. The barback spent about 6 hours just restocking. The wiring redo project apparently went so bad, and took so long, the bartop marble renovation never happened and the machines are still the same.
So the good news...still 9/6 VP and $1.50 draughts at the casino bar.

Footnote: all the regular bartenders at the main bar are gone (on vacation) and I asked one of the vacation relief guys, who normally works in the 777, if you could get a $1.50 beer in the 777 while the main bar was closed. His answer was that they were schooled that if somebody came and asked for a $1.50 tapper, they got it, but otherwise if you didn't ask, you got charged the full price of $3.25. Damn bean counters

Thanks for the update! At least the part that really matters (at least in my world) is still all good - The 9/6 paytable. The condition of the marble and the going rate for a beer (I've never patronized that bar without playing, so the cash value is kind of a non-issue for me) take a backseat to the paytable in my book - glad to hear that it's still there. I was a bit concerned with all the downgrades going around lately.

I haven't paid for a drink in decades but you'd be surprised at the number of people who come up to the bar just to get the $1.50 tapper. So I'm just passing the info along.

Joe: Like you, I haven't "paid" for a drink in ages, but thanks for the useful info.

I might have sitting right next to you. I had relatives in town so I was checked into MSS for Wed & Thur. Drinks good, VP machines bad!
