Started looking around for a rent a car for a summer trip to Vegas. in the past I always used Dollar in Vegas, always seemed to be the cheapest with promo codes and AAA discount applied.
I just tried this morning to rent a compact (hoping that they will be out when I arrive)for the trip checking out Dollar and Thrifty and Hertz. Rates on the same car(dodge neon-compact) were $28.99 -from Dollar(take an additional 10% for deslv promo code) and $18.92-with Thrifty(take 5% for AAA discount).
Quite a difference for the same car.
Hertz was even more expensive than Dollar.
If you're renting a car this summer check out Thrifty's rate - in this instance they are much cheaper.
Hope this helps someone.

I just did the same thing. I had a promo code through USairways, and for three days we got a compact for $42.00 (including the taxes). Before taxes most places were in the $60 dollar range. I never rented through Thrifty before, but hey the price is right...it can't be THAT bad?

Cool

I rent at Thrifty all the time. Get a blue chip number, it really speeds up the process. They used to be located off the strip past the "welcome" sign, but now are located on Wayne Newton blvd. at the airport.

After getting a blue chip number, book online. Enter "36ee" in the coupon slot and get a free upgrade this trip, or 10% off the next.

Thrifty has always been the cheapest I can find, although Avis (with a good discount code) is cheaper at Minneapolis-St. Paul in June. Thats the only time Thrifty wasn't cheaper.

How did you get the USAir discount - that's who we're flying this summer out to Vegas & were thinking about renting a car since we're staying off the strip.

Thanks for the 'Blue chip' tip. How do you get the AAA discount? Do you show your card at the rental desk?

Thanks again.

Sometimes you don't even have to show the card, sometimes you do. But they do take 5% off for AAA.
Also i just picked up this promo code for Thrifty-PROMO Code-36EE supposedly it's worth a free upgrade or 10% off of your next rental.
