Trips to Las Vegas
21
My 1st trip of the new year. Last minute spring break trip. My wife and son are headed to Florida, I'm going to the promised land. My first stay at the Golden Gate. Not a fan of the "Resort Fee". I've spent hours standing at the craps tables there and now I get to try the rooms. I'm supposed to land at 5:30 PM. If all goes as planned, I can get a bet in before tip off. Anyone have any tips on the rooms? Also, I am going to try Las Vegas Golf Club. I can almost taste the Black Chip already.

IF you are at all concerned about noise, and the GG rooms can be very noisy, ask for an "inner " facing room. this drowns out all noise from Fremont and main street. No view at all, but I sleep much better, and the rooms have a full bath tub.

If you don't care at all about noise, get room 329. Windows open to fremont street & you can see the stage from your room. It's also fun to watch the croud of people while drinking from you room. HOWEVER.... It is extremely noisey! During the FSE it is loud, the band is loud, & even at 5am there is music playing right by you.

I only stayed there for 1 night, & it was fun, but if you ever want good sleep, then I would ask for an interior room!!! Better yet, upgrade to one of there suites.

full bath tub??? that's a bit of a stretch.. or maybe that was just my room..

I couldn't get the shower temp working right - it was cold or scalding!! sorted out any hangover though - even at the expense of a few layers of skins.

The rooms are small but beds comfy. I'd stay there again.

I usually try and get a room towards the back, facing Main St. I've never had a problem with street noise. Don't get a room on the east side of the building facing the alley. They empty the dumpsters around 4:30 in the morning and they will wake you up with the racket they make. Try to get an 'upgrade' to rooms 201 or 301; these are larger and the bathrooms are much bigger.

I was facing the alley and never heard the dumpsters being emptied.
can't guarantee I was actually in the room at 4.30am every morning though. :evillaugh

Thanks for the tip. Noise is not a problem. After several beers too many and a pocket full of black chips, who cares. The black chips maybe a stretch.
Minnesota, eh? I'm from the Twin Cities and go back twice a year. Road repair and winter.

My preferred remedy for a hangover is another beer.

Take note: if you requested a smoking room, you will be on the 2nd floor. Although I passed on this, my understanding is that there are no quiet rooms on the second floor. I stayed on the 4th floor, facing Main, across from the Plaza cab-stand. (I don't recall the room #). It was certainly quiet enough for me to sleep.
The rooms are smallest I've ever stayed in, but the bed was extremely comfortable, with good feather-pillows.
The bathroom? Probably the worst design ever, but if you're solo & a guy, you'll manage it just fine.

  • Annual Spring Trip - This time at South Point!
I did have to book a smoking room. No choice. I do not want one. I'll try to switch when I check in. Solo male, all I need is life support for a toothbrush and a bottle of baby aspirin.

if only they served MSS beer at the gate.....
Or, if they only allowed doubling after a split at their double deck blackjack at MSS. Dealt by friendly fun dealers in revealing costumes of course!

That might be a good thread. Pick the best elements from different casinos to make the super duper best casino around.

Are rooms 201 and 301 suites? If so, a free upgrade is probably on the not going to happen list.

No, those rooms are not suites, but the rooms are larger and the bathrooms are much larger than the standard rooms

Thanks. I will certainly try. You'd be surprised what you can get or get away with by being sincere, being polite and a smile. a $20 goes a long way as well.

48 hours and this turns into a running drunk fingered live trip report.
:drunk:

I for 1 cant wait to read your TR. I especially want to hear about your room. My husband & I have 2 nites reserved there in May.We have never stayed there. I am a little concerned about the rooms. I have read so many negatives about 2 people sharing a room. Oh well the Nuggets not far away I guess.

I hope you have a great time with lots of wins.
