Must-Sees/Must-Dos for 1st Timer?

Hi everybody!

I've been to Vegas so many times, that most of my favorite things to do are off the beaten path. Many of the touristy things were kind of "one and done" for me. However, in two weeks, I'm taking my brother for his 21st birthday and need some suggestions on things to see and do that are typical tourist Vegas or just fun things around the strip that are still worth doing.

I tried a search here, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to list your suggestions or point me to a good thread.

Some info: He's not into the club scene and is interested in playing poker.

I think for a first-timer, nothing beats walking up and down the strip with a drink in hand and going into each hotel to see what it has to offer is the best for any first-timer. Definitely do the Bellagio fountains, Bellagio conservatory, Mirage Volcano, Outlet Mall?, Cirque Show?, downtown, roller coaster, sky jump and rides @ strastophere, etc. On the first trip, Vegas just happens to you, you'll find lots to fill your time lol
 
Some of these may not exist any more but off the top of my head:
Bellagio fountains
Bellagio Conservatory
Mirage Volcano
Sirens at TI show
Moving statue show at Caesars Forum Shops
The Wynn's water feature
Roller Coaster at NYNY
Mirage Dolphin habitat
Imperial Palace Car show
Mandaly Bay Shark reef
Rides at Stratosphere (or just go to the top) for the view
Zip Line
Fremont Street Experience
Shows
MGM Lions. Oh wait, nevermind. No reason to go to MGM.


Personally I find a lot of these overrated but of course I've seen them a bunch. A 21 year old may not be overly impressed with flowers and fountains and may just want to gamble, drink, and look at boobs.
 
Every time i go to Vegas with a first timer, I make sure I take them to 'Mix Lounge' in Mandalay Bay before doing anything else. Nothing like contemplating the craziness that lies ahead whilst having a cocktail on a balcony with one of the best veiws of the strip available!

I've always thought about doing this. I'll be staying at Mandalay Bay next week. Is it free to go up? And is there a food/drink minimum?

You're not alone!! Besides boobs, I also like to look at .....:evillaugh




But I'm harmless and really a nice guy.
