My friend was wondering, if he stay at CP, charge show tixs, food, spa to his room, then at check out pay the bill with his total rewards visa.

Charge to room earning rate:
$1 per 1 RC, $5 per 1 tier

TR Visa earning rate:
5x at total rewards casinos aka $1 per 5 RC, no tier

Would he get both of those earning rates or only one?

I found this in the FAQ for the credit card:

5X Reward Credits for every $1 spent at Total Rewards resorts and casinos4

See the "4" footnote?

This is footnote "4":
5x earning based on 4X through the use of the Total Rewards Credit Card and 1X with the use of your Total Rewards card at the time of purchase at a qualified outlet.

So he probably ends up only getting a TOTAL of 5x (not 6x) by paying his hotel bill with the credit card:

1x for having his players club card associated with the room and paying the bill
4x for paying the bill with the credit card

In the past, I've been told that you can't earn points on room charges and the qualifying outlet part of the footnote would give me pause. That is the part I would investigate as your friend may need to make his purchases at point of sale.

So if he make his purchases at the point of sale he would get both correct?
5x from total rewards visa, and $5 per tier for having his player card associated with the purchase

He can always go to the total rewards desk and show the receipt for them to add it? 5x from visa, $5 per tier from his players card associated with the purchase
