    My Trip Report

Friday afternoon I was feeling a little stir crazy so suggested to AllNetMom that we go to Reno for the weekend. Didn't take much convincing, other than assuring her we would be back on Sunday evening to watch GoT and Mad Men. ANM called VIP services and got us a Luxury Suite in the Peppermill Tower. All the Tuscany suites were sold out for a volleyball tournament. In less than an hour we were on the road.

We've stayed in the Peppermill Tower before, the Luxury Suites there are very nice, not as nice as the Tuscany Tower, but still nice. By the time we got settled into the room it was almost 10:00pm. We played $1 9/6 DDB until nearly 2:00am. Forgot that Peppermill day starts at 12:00am, and Saturday was a 5x comp day, so missed out on a little Xcomp boost, but ANM was having a good session anyway, hitting both 4A and 4AWAK. Went back to the room, had room service, and fell asleep a little after 3am.

Saturday was laid back and relaxing. Played a ton of DDB, but I had previously promised not to play $2 or Triple play (or $2 Triple), which is my super fun zone. I was mostly bouncing around, hitting enough small quads to not feel the losses too much. ANM got her second Royal :nworthy: so she was in a good mood all day. I started to get a bit cranky with the game when my quads dried up, but we finished the day ahead and in good spirits.

Sunday morning I woke up at 6:30am. Couldn't go back to sleep, got dressed and hit the casino. ANM wasn't with me, which justified my switch to $2 DDB. I had all of our winnings with me. The starting bankroll was in the safe. After an hour and a half, I had nearly lost it all. Great. Now I'm gonna be in the doghouse big time. So I figure, better not lose it all, and switch to $1. THEN the quads start flowing. I win it all back and more. Of course, it would have been a huge win if I'd just stuck with $2.

ANM gets up around 9:30am and begins to lose big. I'm doing well enough to keep us from dropping too much (also got 4AWAK), but she's clearly getting frustrated. We check out around 1:30 and decide to play a bit more, but only manage to lose more. She pulls the plug, but she's clearly not happy about it. At that point we were still ahead. I talked her into one more session of $200 each. If we lose, we are still ahead. If we win, she can go home in a better mood. She hit 4A and I hit a small quad within seconds of each other. Her mood improved considerably.

Coin in averaged ~ 31K/day (actually 10/45/38). Room was comped, F&B on Xcomps. Food was excellent, but we mostly did Room Service.

" In less than an hour we were on the road."

    Those are the best trips.

Me: What do you want to do?
Her: I don't know. Up to you.
    Me: Lets got to Tahoe.
    Her: I'll start packing.

Can you please explain to me the logic behind PLAYING 4 CREDITS?????

I only know a small amount about VP paytables and how they relate to odds, but I am fairly certain that you absolutely ROBBED yourself by playing 4 credits instead of 5 @ 30k coin in a day. Just look at what you would have won on those premium quads and the rf. My god you might as well have made a nice little bonfire out of 20 grand in the parking lot and made yourself some smores.

I enjoyed the berating, especially the s'more part, but I suggest you stare at the picture a little closer.

And nice hits AllNetDad! Hitting AWAK holding just one is no small feat! I just redrew AAAA4 when holding nothing on a damn play money game tonight... :grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:

He was betting five credits. The max bet on VP machines at Peppermill is not five credits; on some machines the max bet is as many as 25 credits.

If you look at the highlighted paytable, you will notice that a Full House pays 45 and the flush pays 30. Divide those numbers by 5 and you get a 9/6 machine. Also notice the Royal Flush is 4000.

The "one credit" column doesn't appear on the screen in the images AllNetDad posted, so the first paytable column that appears is actually the paytable for betting two credits.

I appreciate you looking out for me, but as others pointed out, I was playing 5 Credits. The fifth column is for 25 Credits.

$20 Grand Smores... don't give me crazy ideas... :wink2:

Thanks for clarifying. I could not imagine hitting 4OAK for $10K!! That's crazy.

    Thanks for sharing AllNetDad!

I hear ya. We only do that about once a year ourselves, but it seems that those spur of the moment trips are luckiest for us.

BTW, it you're diving to Vegas in 2 days and taking the 99, wave to the west when you get to the 198. I'm over in that direction.

I think it's the perfect location for driving to Nevada. Whether I'm driving to Reno, Tahoe, Vegas or Laughlin, they're all within a 5 to 6 hour drive. Reno/Tahoe would be way too close for me if I lived in Sactown. I can easily see myself getting into too much 'trouble' being that close. Damn, that could easily be a day trip. Being 5 to 6 hours away makes each trip being at least an overnighter, which means some planning involved.
