The D: Resort Fee on Comped Rooms

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone had any trouble with The D trying to charge you the nightly resort fee even though you booked a Comped room offer?

When I made my upcoming reservation, the reservation agent stated that I would not be charged the resort fee. I am wondering if they attempted to charge you the fee at check-in/out anyway?

They charged us for four nights resort fee and two out of four nights were comped.
 
I was told that there would be no resort fee on my upcoming trip because it was a comp....I'll definitely be "on my toes" at check in and check out though! Thanks for the heads up!
 
I stayed 3 nights comped in October at The D (after the fees were instituted), and was not charged a resort fee. In fact, the front desk clerk said there was no resort fee on comped rooms without me even asking.

I made reservations last week after receiving their mailer for buy one night get one night free. The reservations person said there is no resort fee for either night; if part of a stay is comped, there is no resort fee for the whole stay. We'll see if that turns out to be true.
 
I stayed at the "D" for 4 nights (buy one,get one free) about a month ago. They told me when I made the reservation that there would NOT be a resort fee for any of the 4 nights.

That is exactly what happened--there was NO resort fee for any of the 4 nights--had a great time there, too.:thumbsup:
 
I stayed on a 2 for 1 in October booked before the resort fees were a factor.
At check in I said,
"And I don't pay resort fees, right? I booked before you had them."
She answered that no resort fees are charged on two for one comped rooms regardless of when it was booked. And none were.

Hit the royal for $1086 at the Vue Bar. This paid for my entire trip.
 
Just changed my reservation for a week from tomorrow due to a comp. The D said they do not charge the resort fee when using a comped night.
 
Stayed in September on 3 comp'd nights and was never charged a resort fee. Folks at The D are fantastic, by the way.
 
Anyone remember what the credit card hold required on a comp room was? I'm staying there for the first time in December (on a comp) and just want to be prepared. Thanks.
 
Just got back and I can confirm there is NO resort fee on any part of the trip if any night is comped.
 
How was your room? Anything particular I should request when I check in there?
 
I just got back a few days ago - stayed at The D for 4 of the 6 nights we were there on a comped room. Beds were great - the only thing missing in the room was an easy chair. I mentioned this at checkout and the clerk's response was "everyone says that!"

Another thing to watch for is the $9.99 Internet fee - everytime I used my cell phone while in the hotel - a message would come up about The D internet and asking if I wanted to "Accept" or "Cancel." I cancelled everytime - but, at checkout - there were two $9.99 fees for two days of internet. I explained to the clerk that I did not use their internet and she took the charges off.

The music downstairs seemed much more tolerable - it didn't seem as loud as what it was a year ago. And the diner/coffee shop upstairs changed for the better, although got a little more price-y.

We didn't have much luck at the machines at The D - but did at 4 Queens.

If you're on a comp and not charged a resort fee, there likely is a charge to use the internet if you do so.
 
I've never paid resort fees on comped rooms at Four Queens, Orleans, or Casino Royale. I know that the rules of Las Vegas are changing, but the whole point of a comp was to balance the cost of the freebie on the backs of those who don't qualify for them.

The room was good not great. I'd stay there again without a doubt. My only problems were: one of the outlets didn't work so the clock went out one night and the toilet ran (the tank was sealed so you couldn't fix it yourself).

For an extra 5 or 6 bucks a night you can get a corner king (larger room, refrigerator, and a sleeper sofa) well worth it. I got it using the $20 trick but in all honesty the price would be about the same just to book it.
