A high-roller from India had his wedding at the Bellagio tonight, and arrived at the ceremony on an elephant. Yes, an elephant. This is why we love Vegas. You don't see this everywhere:

I heard this driving home about 2 a.m. Sunday morning. It was mentioned on Faux Sports Radio.

Allegedly the elephant is 70 years old.

Interesting question raised: where did the elephant come from?

My girlfriend has friends at that wedding. Last night she was showing me cell phone videos one of them took.

She was also telling me it was at the Bellagio but the part she showed me looked like it was behind a gray parking garage or something. So I told her it didn't look like the Bellagio to me.

That part of the ceremony, the baraat, is where the groom and his party travel, in a very loud and celebratory way, to the bride and her family. Here in the US its usually done on horse since elephants are hard to get.

I'll ask my gf to get some details about this from her friends at that wedding after she wakes up.

A couple points of clarification my girlfriend got from her friends at the wedding:

1) It was at Bellagio.

2) The guy isn't a big-wig high roller. Just a normal dude having his wedding at the B.

3) He isn't "from" India either. He's American (Indian-American) from Houston, same place my gf's friends who are at the wedding are from.

By the way, the baraat is always a pretty long ceremony. From the videos her friends sent her it started somewhere in the back driveway area and worked its way up to a side entrance. Even at the entrance there is a long ceremony that would effectively block it for a long time so it could never be the main entrance anyway.

So what are you saying? Someone is going around making up stories about elephants at the Bellagio?

Just a guess... but I am guessing the OP does not recognize the picture. There is a VIP entrance that almost nobody will see. And, not many have ever seen the North Portico entrance either. (unless you saw pictures of motorcycle guy that robbed the Bellagio last year)

Even with this view, it is hard to see. A little better here

Haha, I got that. I just found it quite funny that he was calling BS on someone saying they saw an elephant. It just seems such a ridiculous lie to make up.

Needless to say, the Elephant at Bellagio was far more efficient than the non-working escalators/elevators into/out to Bally's.

Only in Vegas you say? I planned a wedding in Toronto about 4 years ago and had an elephant right in the midtown shopping district. The legality was a bit of a grey area so the groom had given me some envelopes for the local law enforcement. Turns out all they wanted was a picture with the elephant! :)
