You can also use Mapquest to figure out how far all the hotels are from each other. Also will give you the directions on how to get there.

Want to see some sports figures? The sign in front of the Stardust hotel advertised Warren Spahn, Stan Musial and Rollie Fingers appearing that afternoon to sign autographs.
Just a 1/2 hour earlier, a 16-year old male leaped to his death from the top of the Stratosphere. The victim had to sneak past the security gaurds and scale two fences to reach a jumping off point. It was ruled a suicide.

I was there that day! My friends and I walked past the Strat with all the ambulances and tarps and all. Wow.

And man do I wish I had 2 baseballs for Stan Musial and Rollie Fingers to sign that day........

Nice read Andy. I wonder how I missed it the first time....

quite the experience

One time, I was out there with a direction-challenged guy who knew everything, of course, and instead of listening to my directions, he had his own. It was mid-August, and we were on foot. We ended up almost three miles off strip...and he was too tight to want to call a cab back to our hotel...he wanted to walk! It was 106 degrees that day. That's when I put my foot down (pun intended!) and insisted on the cab. Boy, did I sleep well that night!

That was almost 21 years ago, and I'm positive I would not be able to make that trek today...

Is the Hilton within walking distance from the Strip?

Is the Hilton within walking distance from the Strip?

Yes and no. It's not that far, depends on your abilities. I wouldn't do it late at night and I wouldn't do it at noon in August.....It also depends on where you start. It's less than a mile from Sahara hotel/casino to the Hilton, a little over a mile from Wynn to the Hilton, and 3 1/4 miles from MGM to the Hilton. The Strip (Las Vegas Blvd) is a looooooong road......

More you drink, the more downhill walking will be.:) I love the elevated walkways.

I love the monorail! Hilton is easily the most accessible hotel/casino to the monorail so there's no way I'd walk to it.

has anyone else ever walked the entire strip?

i was there with a friend last aug and we got super drunk and decided to walk down the strip from mbay until we couldnt do it anymore. we stopped at every casino and did a shot. we made it to the start and then decided to walk back the other way.

my feet, my legs, my body hated me for about a week. but it was amazing.

I've done Strat to New Frontier and Stardust to Luxor, not the same trip, but I think those are the longest stretches I've done at one time. Mbay to Mirage as well....

I've walked from the Plaza downtown through Fremont street up Las Vegas Blvd until the famous Vegas Sign at the end of the strip. I clocked in at 1:50 with two short pit stops.

I generally walk 5 miles / day during non winter months so I about as tired as after a normal walk.

What othere have said about places being further than they appear
is so true, especially at night. On my wifes and I first trip we were
walking past Caesars Palace, and I noticed the lights for the Rio
off the strip. We decided it did'nt look far and we decided to walk.
Well, what a mistake that was!! We ended up walking by busy roads
and it ended up taking us nearly an hour. You can bet we caught the
Rio shuttle back to the strip!!

walking the strip

My wife ( 59 ) and me ( 53 ) walk everywhere in vegas , we normally stay at the stratosphere , and have walked to downtown and back , to the hilton and the best one of all from the Stratosphere to Town Square about 6.5 miles , where ever we want to go on the strip , we always walk.

And I do get a good laugh at the people who say " it is a looooooooong walk from their room to the pool or from parking to check in. And they are normally youngsters.

once i attempted walk from Treasure Island to Luxor (LAX Club) to meet up with my buddy. I gave up half way and took a taxi . didnt know it was 2 miles!!

Do you know how far it is from Ceasars (Pure) to Rio Hotel?? Walked that once being drunk cuz I refused to pay for taxi. longest walk of my life! lol.

haha this reminds me of a joke i heard once, goes something like, why do old people drive so slow and young people are in such a hurry driving really fast? You would think the old people would be driving faster, they have less time to spare.

Thanks to the OP, interesting read.:peace:

  • World Cup and USA’s 250th 4th of July at Wynn
  • Christmas in Vegas!!
I once walked from the MGM Grand to downtown ( Iwas staying at the LV CLub). I know what yer thinking?? I was a little, how should I say it, drunk and plus I was giving one of my buddies some time with an aquantiance that he had met. Little did I know, he wasn't able to close the deal so I walked for nothing. I ran a little at times in the area between the Saraha and downtown. (little scary at times) I look back on it now and laugh.

That is a hike! Reminds me of the time my wife and I walked from the Empire State Building to the World Trade Center in New York. Never do that again but it was an interesting trek!!

back in 2002 a friend and I took the bus from the strip to downtown, then walked back to the IP.

the next day we walked from IP to THE OUTLET MALL PAST THE AIRPORT! you bet your life we took a cab back from the outlet mall :-)

now im 36 and much wiser.

The wife and I walked from a time share at Jockey Club made our way all the way to Fremont street...

Don't ever do that! lol

The first time we went to Vegas, we walked from MGM to The Stratosphere and back, although not a straight walk as we went in nearly every casino along the way. I think the words uttered when we started was " The Stratosphere doesn't look too far"

These days I have learnt the deuce and SDX are my friends in Vegas

I ran the LV marathon. That involves starting at the Mandalay Bay, running a mile south, turning around and running to downtown, fooling around in northwest Vegas for about 12 miles and then running from downtown to the Mirage. And let me tell you, that was the dumbest thing I've ever done. Never again!
