I would have to agree with Gaggles original thought on this one. My wife and I stopped by the Quad when we were in town for the sweet 16. While it is much cleaner and brighter than in the past we both agreed that the overall decor was quite bland. The gray and red motif seemed very amateur compared to most of the other resorts on the strip. Hopefully this is just a function of the entire casino not being open but we were not impressed. There didnít seem to be any sort of energy in the place anymore. Maybe our expectations are just too high.

To me the place felt bright and clean.

The layout is a great shortcut from Harrah's over to the Flamingo. This will be appreciated in very hot or very cold weather.

I can appreciate the feelings about losing the style and unique character of the old IP. They must not have meant enough to me because I quit detouring back there some time ago.

One thing I recall about the old IP was that they had some of the best looking CWs. I didn't notice the new staff because I didn't have a drink except at the bar. The bartender was a bit of a performer so he may have been working there while the Carnaval Bar was being upgraded.

Glad to see that they're making some effort to refresh the Quad, though I can't imagine why they didn't hit the rooms side. If I were in CET's shoes (oy vey) I would have used the capital from renovating Bill's and renovated the rooms at the Quad to basically make it a whole new hotel. Then left Bill's alone or folded it into the Flamingo brand. But that's why I'm not CEO, I guess.

What's everyone's experience with the "Dealertainers"?

I asked them about this as well. They share with the order takers, so it all works out. Service was great, and I only experienced one minor snafu. Carry around the Ipad order screens is a great idea.

Bette Midler Dealertainer told me they're redoing the rooms next.

Even though I spent a lot of time in The Quad on the trip from which I'm returning now (typing this from airport), and while I find it nicer, I think it's completely devoid of any personality whatsoever. Bland carpet (and pretty stained now, too), too much empty wall space, and really nothing memorable about it save for the fact it's different from what it was in December. Hopefully that'll change as they continue the work. Most of the Dealertainers I asked seem to like it; only one, Rod Stewart, doesn't seem to care for it.

The IP casino was utterly useless once Caesars took over, and I expect nothing different with the name change. Okay, the IP sports book remained somewhat entertaining for awhile, and they continued having a good futures line for a long time, if that's your thing. But when I was in the sports book a year ago it was clearly time for last rites, and now it's apparently going RIP.

The goal of the Quad is clear: aim low. The IP was already the go-to Strip joint for low-brow cheapos. I am not criticizing, as I was more than willing to stay there for the outstanding location and the bottom basement price. Mostly, however, this clientele is not looking for a gambler's casino. I stayed there but didn't spend anything in the casino, except for the odd bet in the sports book. I don't know what your average IP/Quad guest is looking for in a casino, but I'm guessing it's not what I want. So Caesars is just going to spruce it up to the bare minimum, knowing their clientele, and leave it at that. That means the casino will continue to suck.

Once the dust settles on the Linq project I will likely stay at IP again, I mean the Quad, if the price continues to be right. The location is just too good and I really don't need much beyond a functional hotel room. But I am sure I will not be spending any time there except in my room drinking my own beer with my friends and sleeping.

I can only imagine it taking up to a year to fully renovate the rooms.

I popped in very briefly last weekend. Looked very sterile. I assume the are not finished with it yet.

I did not play long enough to even consider a drink, but I'm glad they are using the Rio System with the pads.

Looks like all of the flea market stuff is gone from Carnaval Court.

Really hard to judge an unfinished product. You never know if what you are seeing is just a temporary fix.

When its officially done, I won't be making a special trip just to see it but will definitely check it out if in the area.
Please send funds for my next Vegas trip!!!!!

Agreed about IP vs Bill's. They should have just left Bill's as it was, and put that money into IP. I can't fathom THAT much interest in Barbary Coast v3.0, at $250 a night, when they are done. But hey, what do I know.
