    Default MSS buffet for breakfast

I have read all the thread discussing the MSS buffet for breakfast over the Golden Nugget. We will be at the GN and checking out early for our flight home. We want a hearty breakfast that will hold us so we don't have to resort to buying the airplane sandwiches. Decided on the MSS buffet.

I want to check out and drive our car to MSS, should we valet the car at the main entrance or should we park in a lot somewhere. Which would be closest to the restaurant?

    Thanks

    3 options:
Valet on the south end of the hotel.
Ground level parking lot across from the north end of the Cal.
Parking structure at the north end of MSS. Parking structure is free, but a bit tight on the parking spaces.

Ground lot is free if the gate is up, otherwise if there is an attendant, you pay and get a refund at the casino cage. Cage is next door to the buffet.

MSS isn't that big and the walk from any of those isn't far. I guess the shortest would be from valet, but really we're only talking a couple of hundred feet more from the other two options. Surface lot, you cross the street at the intersection and right into the side doors. Parking structure, you'll most likely end up taking an elevator down and then walk across the hotel check-in parking lot.

EDIT: Just be aware the MSS buffet doesn't open until 7 AM.

Also be aware that the prices for the buffet varies depending on the day. On Saturday and Sunday the prices are higher, I think it's because the buffets are "champagne brunch" types on the weekend.

As Joe also mentioned, the buffet opens at 7 am so if you have to get out earlier the buffet might not work for you.

In terms of parking, the walk from the MSS general parking lot is probably a minute or two more than from the valet. The valet is probably the fastest walk but not by much.

I thought that the GN had a decent breakfast buffet? btw, the fremont also has a buffet (paradise buffet). You can avoid the parking situation by just walking to the fremont instead.

I like the MSS buffet because there is a lot of selection for all. They have the usual omlette bar, scrambled eggs, the usual bacon or ham and other meats and they even serve pizza for the kiddies in the morning in addition to the usual cereals and fruits. I think they also have limited desserts on weekdays and an ice milk machine for your imitation ice cream.

The fremont doesn't have as much a selection (like pizza) but they do seem to have a little more of a meat selection. The problem with the fremont (paradise buffet) is that the place to many is dim (booths away from the buffet) so many people don't like that "jungle" atmosphere.

Forgot to mention, buffet lines (both MSS and fremont) could get long if you arrive later in the morning, if you get there after 8 you may have to wait until the first groups finish their meals and leave. I usually get to the buffet before 8 and didn't have to wait very long to get seated.

I think the MSS buffet is better than Fremont. Just our opinion.

That being said, if there is a long line at Fremont, choose the Cafe option and walk to the right when you go in. Look at the menu and tell the server you changed your mind and want the buffet. Bingo, you just skipped the line.Click or hover your mouse to enlarge image

Thanks for the info all, we plan on getting there as close to 7:00 as we can. I'm not expecting much of a line up that early. Once we get seated, we can determine how much time we use for breakfast rather than being at the mercy of the wait staff and kitchen staff of regular restaurant.

Yes, I know Saturday is the higher rate breakfast, gotta pay for that fine grade of champagne they are going to serve right?

If we get out of there by 8, drop off our car, we should have not problem arriving at the airport ahead of the 2 hours prior to flight time.

I really don't like the "Hurry up and wait" routine that air travel has turned into.

They're both very good. You'll have to decide if you want a lot of basic foods, or one elaborate dish. The buffet would be cheaper.

MSS buffet is quite good. Once a year you can use a buy one get one free coupon from The FSE (above Walgreens) to make it an even better value. GN buffet had a longer line and was pretty lousy, sa to say. Last time I stayed at GN I didn't eat there, even though it would have been free.

Make sure you print these out for a BOGO at the MSS buffet.

The current batch is good until 9/30. They sometimes aren't timely in updating for the next quarter, so it might take until Oct 3rd or 4th to get the next ones.

You also need to be a B Connected member to use the coupon. Present the coupon at the Player's Club desk.

Crap, I just realized I'm not sure there is anyone at the B Connected desk that early. Maybe you could do it the day before and it's valid for 24 hours? I've actually never used one, but maybe someone on this board might know.

Sometimes there is a line before 7 am so you may have a 10 minute wait. Many of the senior citizens get up early thinking like you so they go early before the crowd gets there, lol. but since the place will be empty it shouldn't take too long to get processed and seated. Not sure how it will be the day that you go but just wanted to give you a heads up just in case.

IMHO, I think it's a wash between HHAGG and the MSS buffet. HHAGG is kind of pricey but then they serve large portions but I think overall the food there is better (JMHO).

Also be aware, there have been comments that the MSS buffet hasn't been that great lately. For me, I didn't like the omlette chef. While he puts on a good show (tossing the stuff in the pan in the air, etc.) I didn't like the amount of oil he used to make my omlette. When I got my omlette I had to use a napkin to try to dab all the oil he used.

Allustoms, if you are there on a saturday you might like all the food they put out. on saturdays they use the whole buffet area, putting even chinese and mexican food out and I think they serve a full dessert bar too.
