I've been to several interviews with a few different companies here in LV and I'm not getting the offers. The non-gaming/hospitality interviews that I've been to have produced good results, but I'm holding out a bit longer to try and get into a Hotel/Casino. This leads me to believe that I'm missing something specific to the hotel/casino area. Any advice, tips, etc?

What position are you interviewing for? Kid on my street that grew up with my daughter graduated with a BS in Mathematics and was hired immediately for one of the major gaming companies. He designs and programs many of the slot games.

It depends on what jobs you are applying for and where. In some cases, some jobs have hundreds of candidates and others maybe not even a dozen. Also, in my own experience, if you are way over qualified for a job...they don't typically look at you. Even if its obvious you are trying to get a foot in the door. It's a numbers game with the big companies.

Upbeat and positive are the best qualities to have. They want happy people to interact with the customers and enhance their experience. No one wants to deal with Debbie Downer or Negative Nancy while on vacation. So, they look for people that are warm, friendly and have contagious smiles. If they ask you to dance, dance.

Palms Casino is having a job fair today from 11 to 1, but I missed the one that was announced right before it on ABC. It sure doesn't hurt to look good, show your face and hand out your resume!

Basically, we have the freedom to do our jobs as we see fit without a management chain to give us grief. That along with the culture that celebrates being the real you and not a corporate "you".

Are you involved with the IT side of Zappos? They've always intrigued me with how they work.
