MyVegas Looking for advice on how to spend my LPs (600K)

I am planning a solo trip in mid-December (Sunday - Wednesday) and was trying to figure out the best use of my LPs about 600K.

At the beginning of the year I was planning on saving for rooms at Aria, but that plan went out the window as free Aria rooms were removed from the rewards.

Because I am going solo, I thought about getting three free nights at NYNY or Luxor, and saving the rest for a trip with my wife next year.

The risk with that is, the rewards are constantly changing and becoming more restrictive. So I thought that maybe I should maximize my spend this trip and re-build for next years trip, maybe three nights at Mandalay Bay or MGM.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

 

I'm in the exact same situation, or very similar at least. Same number of loyalty points and was also planning to use them for a stay at Aria.

I have an upcoming guys trip and have been searching the rewards looking for the best value. I ended up tacking on an extra night to my trip with a MyVegas reward for a free night at MIrage (other four nights are downtown) and used another reward for a free buffet at Bellagio. Actually bought a buy one get one for that as that seemed the best value and I know I'll be there with one other person. So I have over half a million LPs left and I suppose I'll use them for a room somewhere next year with the wife but it obviously won't be Aria. I could redeem one other reward for this trip so I'm thinking another buffet or food option for my last day which will be solo.

I'm kind of addicted to this game but I don't really think it's worth it for the rewards once they took away rooms at Aria and Bellagio.

 

Tough to answer the question without knowing your interests. I've been a fan of using LP's for things I would truly spend money on without the rewards. I usually get rooms comped, so I've used LP's on specific restaurants, like 9 Fine Irishmen and NYNY without staying there, MGM dinner buffet and even the MC $100 dueling piano credit. but I'm not the type of person to use them on shows or drinks, so it really depends on your own taste. If it was up to me, I'd use at least half of your LP's now, and worry about the next trip when it gets to the planning stages.

 

Give us more info like age range and what you like to do. Last trip i spent 250k on the gold lounge bottle service and couldnt have been happier but im 30 years old and went with the SO and a bunch of friends.

 

I would worry about reward shrink, and would spend most of my LP's now. Spend them on things you really want, though, not just to dump points.

 

You are correct and I apologize for not giving more specifics in my original question.

I am 56 travelling solo, I will have a car available, and I am not planning on meeting up with anyone in town, so it kind of limits me on some of the 2 for 1 events.

I am more of a low roller so the rooms don't come free for me, and comps are generally limited to occasional drink that I have while playing craps.

My theory is that a room is more valuable than the buffets offered, plus I am not a big buffet person.

I was thinking of trying to get the NASCAR ride-a-long at the Speedway, but I am hesitant because the wording says that there are limited times available and I didn't feel like throwing away 250K points if they don't offer it while I am there.

To spend max points I would stay at either Mandalay Bay or MGM, if you had that choice which would you go for?

 

If the NASCAR ride-along is unavailable you could just get a refund on that purchase, right? If that's what interests you it sounds pretty unique.

Monte Carlo has a whiskey tasting which could be good. There are the Cirque shows, of course, though that might not be your thing. Most of the food options aren't great for solo diners (like $75 off of $150 at the Luxor steakhouse).

I prefer MB to MGM, though that's really more based on summer/spring stays and their pool. If you do choose MGM there's a breakfast credit reqard

 

do not waste your chips on MGM since they are only giving away the West Wing teenie rooms right now... not the Grand Kings.. at least not for us... MB has much nicer standard rooms anyhow and they are much more likely to upgrade..

 

Those West Wing Rooms can be nice, depending on what you're looking for. Our first trip to Vegas we ended up in one of those rooms on the 1st floor. We were about 10 doors down from the Casino door. Nice being able to walk out of your room and instantly be on the casino floor without hiking down a long hallway and riding an elevator for 25 floors. I'm not sure if they ever remodeled the West Wing rooms, when we stayed in them they were just starting the remodel of all the rooms.
In April we stayed in one a Grand Queen room. It was much nicer than the west wing but not nearly as convenient.

 

Since you will have a car and going during the week, I've heard the Red Rock rooms (150,000 LP) are really nice. Might require some hotel hopping, as it only allows 1 night. The also have a signature suite for 1/2 off, but don't know what that runs.

 

RE: MGM West Wing

Sorry, I do not find a room where we can hardly get to the bathroom because the ONE chair in the room is blocking the way or into the closet because the desk is nearly blocking that... We moved the chair into the closet and didn't bother with any of it. There was no where to put our clothing, plus no real window.. a small one blocked by the bed that filled nearly the entire room.. and no doors on the bathroom just a frosted glass barrier and one between the toilet and shower. No Tub... no counter space whatsoever... so to me this is NO WHERE NEAR "nice".. LOL I'm used to Mandalay Bay, The Hotel, now Delano, Encore, Mirage.. and even our stay in a Go Room a few years ago at the Flamingo was nicer than this. I have had far nicer rooms at the Luxor that everyone trashes... I was completely unimpressed with MGM and I just do not get it why people think this is an upscale property. I wish I didn't listen to folks on this board and MyVegas tell me to use MGM rewards rather than Monte Carlo... I have stayed there in the past and it's a standard room and a bit dated, but nowhere near as disgusting and teeny as the West Wing at MGM. I guess it didn't help that the room was warm and then suddenly freezing too... and the TV kept losing it's cable every 20-30 minutes... and normally not a real issue since we are not in the room much, however, I got a 24 hour virus and was in the room and really needed to take a bath and rest.... but NO bathtub and very noisy room with all the issues I mentioned... No thanks.. not worth it, plus we had to pay a resort fee (of course) but sucks when you can't even get to the pool. Live and learn... staying at the properties I know and love from now on!!
