    link

"The Rio is reportedly considering putting a zip line between its towers, 357 feet in the air. Take that, SlotZilla!

The Rio zip—a representative could not confirm the project—would run 1,200 feet above the ground at 33 miles per hour. You would start above the VooDoo Lounge and fly over the pool toward the Ipanema Tower. When you got there, you’d travel back, backwards, to the Lounge."

Rio will be zipping along by the end of Summer.

"The Rio Las Vegas and New Capital Ventures have announced a joint effort to bring a new zipline attraction, the VooDoo Skyline, to the hotel in late summer, 2013.

The heart-stopping zipline will launch 400 feet in the air, from the popular night spot, VooDoo Lounge. Daredevils will ride at speeds up to 33 miles-per-hour to another tower at Rio, the Ipanema Tower.

The new ride should provide some of the most spectacular views of The Strip in all of Las Vegas. Assuming your eyes are open. Which this blog’s won’t be.

Unlike most ziplines, the VooDoo Skyline will accommodate two riders at a time. Another unique feature is that on the attraction’s return trip, guests will ride an additional 800 feet to the starting point, facing backwards, for a total ride distance of nearly one-third of a mile.

Actually, it’s more accurately called a “zip ride.” Ziplines don’t go backward, can’t accommodate two people (seated), and a zip ride can’t get stuck halfway to its destination as ziplines sometimes can.

VooDoo Skyline is a collaboration between the Rio and New Capital Ventures partners Joe Shortal and Jonathan Borchetta, and Stan Checketts, who has created more than 200 amusement rides around the world for companies such as Disney and Six Flags".

As a fan of Rio, this looks pretty awesome.

    RIO Zip Line opening in...

...........August. I was at Rio in May, and i'll be at Caesars in 2 weeks..........might check it out. I'm wondering if the Rio shuttle might need more space with people who are staying elsewhere coming to Rio for the Zip Line:

It looks scary as heck........from the Masquarade Tower to the Ipinema Tower. Drunks at Voodoo Lounge must be elated, no need to wait for elevators to get to the Ipinema rooms.

Yeah will be interesting to see how they set the price, it's just over $100 for the basic package to do the Sky jump off the Stratosphere Tower.
Cant see it being as much as that, maybe around the $60 or $70 mark.

I read that it would be $25 daytime and $40 at nite. I google it and found this info somewhere on the internet so it must be true.

Kind of cool. A little inflated in terms of price.

I just got back from spending a couple days at Rio. I personally didn't see any construction that resembled a zip line anywhere on the property.

My first time at the Rio and it won't be my last. Got a premium King in the Ipanema tower (comped) and really liked the lay out of the room. The room faced the strip but here was some kind of construction on a 10-15 floor building between the Rio and the strip that kind of killed it. Not saying that I would sit in my room hours on end looking out the window, but I do like to open the curtains at the crack of noon and look at the view before making my way to the shower.

I got a great parking spot right next to the elevator so decided to leave the car there and try the shuttle. Real convenient and free way to get to the strip. Took the shuttle to Bally's and it dawned on me that the only Caesars property I haven't stayed at was that one. But after a couple nights at Rio, I don't plan on staying anywhere else for a little while at least.

The Saturday night Seafood buffet is still good and the same as I remember last time I ate there about 10 years ago.

Decided to eat a dinner buffet at the Mirage basically because that's where we were when we were starving. Wow. Awesome buffet. I was very surprised. A very good spread of very tasty and exotic foods. Totally recommend it.

You didn't see the Zip Line? Then who are the people being towed from the Masquarade Tower to te Ipinema Tower?

Wow, to be honest, I really didn't see any zip line either being constructed, or being used while there. I didn't go out of my way to look for it, but I would think such a thing would stick out, or at least be advertised somewhere on the property.
