    My Trip Report

    Wed – Jun, 11th

We flew SWA out of Orlando to Las Vegas. On the way we had a little turbulence after take-off but after that we seemed to make it to Las Vegas in record time. The trip was uneventful except for the Ginger-Ale I dumped on us later followed by me coming out of the bathroom dragging toilet paper down the aisle as my encore! Haha. After landing we rented a car and drove to Red Mountain Resort in St. George Utah where we took in the sights, looked at some new housing developments for fun and drove through Zion National Park.

    Fri – Jun, 13th

I wonder how many people stay away from Las Vegas on Friday The 13th? Well, not us! After a leisurely morning we packed up and headed back to Las Vegas where we had 3 nights comp’d and $500 in Free Play waiting for us at Wynn. We were entered in a Slot Tournament at Encore and that was fun and hard work for 3 minutes! Always looking for weird offbeat stuff to do later on Friday night we saw Evil Dead the Musical at Planet Hollywood. It was cheesy fun. I guess I need to watch Evil Dead I & II and Army of Darkness again since it’s been such a long time.

    Sat – Jun, 14th

I went to Encore’s Spa early in the morning to check it out for my first time and I enjoyed the facilities a lot. Afterwards we did the breakfast Buffet at Wynn and then headed up to Bellagio for a while. Then we walked over to the Cromwell and I thought they did a nice job remodeling the place. Afterwards we walked to Paris and had a bite to eat at the Sugar Factory. That evening we went over to The Quad or whatever that area is now called to ride the High Roller. I wanted to do it at dusk but my timing was off so it was still daylight. But we got a Pod all to ourselves so that was cool. They’ve done a nice job remodeling that whole area. It’s too bad they couldn’t have found a location with a better view. Still I guess I’ll have to do the High Roller one more time at night and then be done with it.

    Sun – Jun, 15th

We ate breakfast at The Terrace Café then ventured out to Palazzo and the Venetian. Later we went across the street to the Fashion Show Mall where I bought my Gal-Pal a couple of Coach Bags to add to her collection haha. We visited the Apple Store and had a lite bite to eat at the Food Court then we headed back to Wynn where we camped out for the rest of the trip. During our visit we played the usual slots; WOF & Double 7’s as well as a few of the novelty slots. We had several decent wins but nothing to write about.

How did you like Zion National Park? Do you ride a shuttle in the park? Did you have to do a lot of walking to see stuff? How long is the drive to/from Vegas?
    Thanks for sharing your TR.

Some day I'll do a few day get aways while in Vegas....kind of sad that I haven't done so in many years. Sounds like you had a great trip! Love Wynncore.

There are 2 entrances so be sure to go to the one where the Camping area is. We didn't do the Shuttle or any hiking. It was too hot.
We drove through the park and up to the tunnel that goes through the mountains. Stopped for picts. It's about 2 hours from Vegas
to St George and another 1 or more hours to Zion. I wasn't driving but a quick search says 163 miles from Las Vegas to Zion Nat'l Park.
Will have to go back sometime to do Byce Canyon and Arches which I think would be a really awesome trip!

Speaking of walking I have a FitBit wrist band and one day I logged over 16,000 steps! Earned my first 50 Mile Badge during this trip.

Zion is beautiful and we rode the shuttle thru the park. If I'm not mistaken, it is free. That being said, Zion is beautiful but nothing can compare to Bryce Canyon. It is beyond words lovely. To me it was even more beautiful than the Grand Canyon. I have never been to Arches but would love to go. There are antelopes at Bryce and we saw many of them grazing in a meadow.

We did Zion and Bryce in one trip. Flew in and drove to St George for the first night after stopping for food at one of the casinos near the border. Up early the next morning we went to Zion and drove all through the place. Some climbers were just coming out of their tents suspended from cliffs. Then onto Bryce where we saw it also driving and spent the night just outside the park entrance. The two parks are so different and both with awesome views. I think of Zion as looking up and Bryce as looking down. Easy ride back to Vegas from Bryce and back to gambling.
