this morning I debated getting an eye exam or CVS reading glasses ("cheaters") because I can't read really fine fine typeface on some websites on my phone w/o pinch zoom available ( LG G3 so you iPhone 6+ guys just shut it!)

but this song just came up on Pandora and even though most people would say that "it's Noise, Not music!"
it's almost 16 years old

Well? Did you buy the readers or make appointment for eye exam?

I feel old when I hear a tune of rebellion from my youth co-opted by The Man for commercials.

I got an eye exam at walmart, insurance covered the cost.
Came home and bought 2 pair of bifoclas from zenni optical for less then $20 a pair.

Think the total was around $35. cant beat that.

There's a similar mindset that keeps me from getting lasix, I don't want to have to wear readers. And until I no longer can read sans glasses, I'm not getting bifocals. I know, I know, not logical but, hey, it works for me.

Used at laugh at my old man. He had 12 pairs of cheaters around the house. I hit 40 and almost to the day I was in 1.25's. 60 now and had to go to the ophthalmologist for a stye that wouldn't go away. Eye exam.... Still 20/20. Cheaters are now 2.0's and I have 14 pair around the house.

reading menus in the dark is the worst.....especially when everyone else is half your age.....I've resorted to just asking the waiter what is good, or saying "i'll have that too".....now the lack of hearing part....that isn't so bad ;)

Getting that old timers already huh? Now you'll end up losing them when they're on your head. Or hanging around your neck on a granny chain.

Glasses - I wear Contacts (+2.25) but in order to read I need to wear glasses as well! I can't wear Bifocals they mess with my brain!
So basically all day I'm wearing Contacts and Glasses at the same time. I have 3 pair of Prescription Glasses and several pair of OTC's.
I really like the little folding glasses you can buy at CVS. They fold up into a small flip-top container a little larger than a Zippo Lighter.

Getting Old - This morning I got out of the shower, dried my hair and went to the Coffee Shop. When I got home I realized I forgot to brush my hair!
No wonder I was getting weird looks!

    3 Things.........
    .
#1 )......My wife asked me to pick up a pair of cheaters at CVS.
.............I told her how bad an idea that was.......then, guess who used/needed them the next morning ?
    .
#2 )......Walked into an eye exam at Walmart --
............The guy flips down a chart at the END OF THE HALL....and asks me to read it.
............I said, "You're kidding right ?.....that chart is 20 feet away.....who could read anything THAT FAR away ?"
    ............I walked out.
    .
    #3)......what was number 3 ?....I can't remember ?

I went through a similar experience in my mid-40s. My eyes had always tested 20/20, but when I turned 45 my near vision started going to crap.

I went to the optometrist and told her I did not want reading glasses. My distance vision was excellent, so she suggested I try a contact for reading in my right eye, and nothing in my left eye. She said that the mono vision approach would either work great or not at all. So she put in the contact and had me try it out by reading magazines in the waiting room for 30 minutes or so. As soon as I started reading I knew this was the solution for me. The worst part for me was learning how to put something in my eye (ewww!). Once I mastered that task, this approach worked well for me.
