well?, this summer in San Francisco that's not the case
seems gangs of muggers from the East Bay have been coming across to popular tourist areas
    and doing daylight armed robberies

the following video from a home security camera warms my heart, LOL

    enjoy prison you morons!

That is so ridiculous. Hope they do some serious time. Glad the folks didn't seem too hurt and that the criminals didn't get a way with it. Also seems like there were undercover cops close by who were able to respond.

On a different note, I watched the video and then when it was over saw the link to the Bloomberg money show about Vegas Whale Don Johnson that I had seen on TV before. I just watched the whole thing again on my computer. Very interesting and informative and it gave me my Vegas fix for the day, so thanks for that too!

they (undercover cops) were pre-positoned in almost all of the top tourist spots
seems SFPD, decided that just uping uniformed beat cops as deterence wasn't enough
smart if you ask me, now the muggers are the ones looking out for more than just a uniform

tourism in summer is a big deal for every major city

I always felt safe in SF, especially in the daylight. Kinda scary to be in that position as a tourist...

And, yea, agreed that cop sprinted up that hill like nobodies business!!!
