Which is the better hotel to stay in? Is there much of a difference?

    They're both amazing hotels.

Encore is "newer" and "all suite" (which basically means their standard rooms have a little area with a couch).

I personally prefer Wynn just because it's closer to humanity.

Several months back there were a few threads comparing Wynn and Encore. You might want to do a search if this thread doesn’t provide you with the info you need.

The rooms at Encore are bigger, but the ones at Wynn have been renovated more recently (though, I think they do an excellent job in maintaining the rooms at Encore – you seldom see the wear and tear you do in other hotel rooms that are a similar age). Some south-facing rooms at Encore get the bass noise/vibrations from the club until very late. I’ve had these rooms a few times. And while it isn’t a huge deal (TV on low drowns it out), it is a bit annoying for such a nice hotel. If you must have complete quiet in order to sleep, ask for a north-facing, or “quiet”, room. Others have reported noisy rooms at Wynn, but I’ve never personally experienced it.

Wynn’s casino is much bigger and has a lot more action. It also has better blackjack rules and VP paytables (for the most part). But Encore’s casino is nice if you want calm and quiet. I like playing there in the day when I’m nursing a hangover. It also seems that the table minimums are a bit lower at Encore most of the time.

The location of Wynn is better (in the eye’s of most), as you’re closer to most things on the strip. But Encore’s slightly less accessible location does mean that it gets less sightseers and less congestion on the walkways.

All restaurants/bars/attractions at both hotels are easily accessible from the other and both offer great rooms and service. You really can’t go wrong.

Another +1 to the carve. Was just there in july and agree. For the noise you really need the top top floors to not hear it. XS is right in the middle of both.

Every time I read one of carve's Wynncore summaries it gets me fired up for my first stay there. I cannot wait!

Encore. Yet Wynn has better climate control in their rooms. Even lowering to 60F which is the lowest setting I was still sweating at times at the Encore. I like the Encore casino much better as it is more quiet and intimate. Really like the staff there as I find them more personable. On my trip last week there was a bad baccarat shoe at the high limit area where everything just went wrong! The supervisor saw what was happening and asked if I liked to have a new shoe. That was awesome and the first time I ever. For other casinos the staff would probably have a good laugh inside watching their patrons go on a huge draw down.

Do a search of VBM - there are 5 threads with "Wynn vs Encore" in the first page of results. Lots of good info to read through.

Not being snarky... trying to be helpful. :peace:

Both are good, there is not much to choose between them. I think the Wynn has a better vibe about the casino, Encore casino was pretty boring, but coffee shop much quieter at Encore and easier to just walk in without a wait. Remember Encore strip view rooms are slightly bigger than golf view, the opposite way around at Wynn due to the convex/concave design of both hotels.

I'd go with whichever is cheaper. I've stayed at both. Encore rooms are slightly bigger and the only negative would be the extended walk to Encore. Overall, you won't go wrong with either. I love wynncore

I'm pretty sure I've weighed in on every one of these "Wynn or Encore?" threads over the past 3-4 years. Yet now I'm waffling on which to choose for my October trip - I'm in a complete state of indecisive paralysis. I usually give a slight nod to Wynn when offering advice to others. But I had such a great experience at Encore this summer...

First world problems, as the kids say. :rolleyes2:

I'm not really going anywhere with this post, just thinking "out loud", I suppose. :rolleyes2:

Yes you have replied with great info for everyones questions. Just stay where you feel lucky or want. If all else fails, you can walk across to the either connected casino!

Which weekend in Oct are you going?

This is what I'm thinking. Unfortunately, while I've had more wining/break-even trips at Encore, my biggest win ever happened at Wynn. Lol. Just whining a little.

    I'm there Oct 17-21. You?

I chuckled reading your post, carve, because you have been such a wealth of info on those properties for those of us first timers staying there!

When in doubt go with the place that has provided the most overall comfort and good vibe

If one was booked at Wynn but wanted to change to Encore when they check in is that a big deal?

I believe they would not let you switch for free. I remembered I checked into my room at encore. My host booked a king instead of 2 queens. The clerk would not let me get the queens. He called the host on duty I'm guessing and they said it was fine. I know the 2 queens is more than 1 king, but the room was comped. Guy was a db
