My wife just received an offer for two comp nights and $150 in free credit (more than offsets a possible resort fee) for either the Wynn or Encore. The Wynn room is a deluxe resort room, while the Encore is a resort suite king. We have never stayed at either resort....just lost money at both. IMO, the biggest drawback to the Encore is the location, which is not near the heart of the nighttime action, as far as other casinos, but we do have a rental car. We are currently booked for five nights at the Mirage (mostly comped) starting this Sunday, but would just keep that reservation and move to the Mirage on Tuesday. If anyone has any thoughts which resort/room would be the better choice I would appreciate it....thanks.

    Six of one...

I'd stay at whichever one has your preferred casino/restaurants/bars. Rooms are great in both. Encore's are a bit larger and set up like a suite (though there is no full wall/door between the bedroom and living area). Wynn received a thorough renovation a few years ago, though I believe a less involved refresh is going on at Encore currently. So if you're headed out soon, I suppose that you're more likely to get a "newer" room at Wynn but if you're going in the fall, Encore's furnishings might be newer. Hard to find many faults with the rooms at either place - both are huge, both are very nice, IMO.

Wynn definitely has a much larger casino with more energy/action and is closer to the rest of the strip. But sometimes the quiet and calm of Encore's casino is pretty nice.

If you're a light sleeper and go to bed before 4 am or so, you might have an issue with some of Encore's rooms as bass from the nightclub can be felt/heard until the wee hours. The rooms affected are the south facing ones. So you might want to ask for a north facing room as high up as possible if you choose Encore (or just ask for a quiet room - they're aware of the problem). I've never run into a similar issue at Wynn in my many stays there.

If you're a craps player, make sure to check out recent discussions on their new policy (2X odds).

Full Disclosure: I'm an unabashed Wynncore fan.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.

We have stayed at both properties, we liked the rooms (larger), and the pools better at the Encore (Wynn adult pool was much smaller than encore) but we liked the gaming selection and the restaurant choices at the Wynn better...

When we return, we will stay at Encore ;)

I cant speak for the Wynn but I took the same offer you got. Tagged on an extra night at base rate $149 for the Encore suite. Will hopefully report on it in less than a week.

Good tip on the noise thecarve, must remember that at check in:thumbsup:

Some great information...thanks. This is one of the many reasons why I love the Vegas Message board. BTW, my wife must have lost a lot of coin to get this offer as we didn't play there that much. LOL

Looks like we will pass in the morning......I'm leaning towards the Encore, based on the feedback. GL, and let's take it to Mr. Wynn. LOL

Encore is my choice. You can't go wrong either way.

Update: My wife just booked the Wynn for this Sunday and Monday. The Wynn rep said the Encore was booked on Monday, but said she would put us up in a panoramic strip view room overlooking the Bellagio and other resorts. She also said the $150 in free credit was for slot play...BOOM. Also, no resort fees would be charged. My wife was hooked and reeled in. LOL She booked it. I then called the Mirage where we were booked Sunday through Thursday night (3 nights comped:no resort fee) with $100 free play and $50 resort credits..the other two nights were for $80 with a $32 resort fee. The rep changed my offer to Tuesday thru Thursday, with no resort fee, with the same $'s for free play and resort credits. BOOM! I'm not in Vegas yet and I'm up $300. Thanks for your help, VMB members...all of us have one thing in common...we all want to win, and we all love Vegas, and we all help each other have a great trip. Thank you. :nworthy:

    Preach on, brother!

If memory serves, you started a thread about your love of Vegas buffets. Be sure to stop by the Red Card booth and get the info about their daily slot tournaments. I believe you just need to accumulate 500 points in a day to gain entry (not that difficult if you're a gambler). In addition to the chance of winning some freeplay, each entry comes with two buffet passes. (Assuming nothing has changed since I was there a few weeks ago)

Also, no trip to Wynn is complete without a stop at Parasol Up or Parasol Down for some overpriced, but damn tasty, cocktails. And if you decide to take a break from the buffets, grab yourself a big hunk of cow at SW.

Awesome! Have a great time! For whatever reason I prefer Wynn to Encore (barely) only because of the decreased walking distance to the Strip and it's attractions. For those of you who have stayed at Encore...boy do those steps add up as you walk back into the resort from the Wynn Esplanade through the Wynn casino, into the Encore Esplanade, through the Encore casino and finally to the elevator bank...or...another .30 miles up the strip to access Encore from the strip (sidewalk). After a while those extra steps are back breaking...ok not really, but it does add up.

Wynn seems to be a more lively place and you have faster access to the buffet, sports book, lake of dreams etc etc. Regardless of choice, either one is a good one! Enjoy.

I like both but usually stay at the Encore for the slightly bigger rooms, but this makes me glad I just booked a Wynn resort panormic for the end of Sept/beginning of Oct! I consider Wynn my "first love" if you will, so will be good to go back. And let the countdown begin!

I have stayed at both and personally preferred the room at Encore over Wynn. Just a note, I booked on an offer similar to which you received, did not accept any upgrades at the time of booking, however, when checking in was offered an upgrade for cheaper than what was offered online, so I accepted... Good Luck!!

We ended up in a Wynn Panoramic view room on the 36 floor overlooking the mountains and the strip...lovely room with a super view. When we called to book the Wynn the rep informed my wife that she had two open offers, and my wife booked the offer for two nights and $150 in free play. We still have an offer for three nights and $225 in free play to use in November or December. I'm now looking at the feasibility of booking a December trip, and adding two nights at the Mandalay Bay....all comped with resort credits and free play. We love Las Vegas. :nworthy:

Awesome offers. Those offers are definitely a good reason for going back! We have similar offer and will be there in November splitting our stay between Wynn and either Mirage or Bellagio.
We've stayed at Wynn and Encore, we prefer Wynn for - bigger casino, great vibe, easy access to strip, love all their restaurants. Stayed there in July, 39th floor (if memory serves) with awesome view similar to what you described - first rate accommodations all the way! Saw a spectacular lightening show - never closed the drapes one time!! Watched the helicopter tours circling the strip from our room.

To thecarve: thanks thecarve for the good info regarding the daily slot tournaments - we racked up the points each day but had no idea about the tournaments - will ask at the Red Card desk for sure next time!! Amazing the wealth of knowledge shared here at VMB.

We are Mirage loyalists and have been treated really well there - but we do like the Wynn, it's a cut above all the rest. But dang, we cannot win on slots there...

We too love Vegas!! Wishing y'all much good luck on your stay!
