Hopefully Steve Wynn gets the local community approval today and then the state license in 2014 to build his casino in Everett. What looks like it is going to be a win local wise since there is not much opposition like he faced when he was planning to build his casino in Foxborough. This would actually be great for the town of Everett since the Wynn casino will put the city on the map. Right now the site where Wynn wants to build on is one huge contaminated land mass once operated by Monsanto. It would take 30 months to build this. So if things go according to plan the casino would be up by Summer 2016.

Also Wynn wants to build another casino in Philly. Yet he faces much opposition there. If he also gets the approval that would be awesome as well.

Phase One complete. 86% voted yes for Wynn to build. Now hopefully in Phase 2 the state of MA grants Wynn the ability to build his casino.

This is great news. Since NH can't get it together to pass expanded gambling, it's nice to think I might have a good option fairly close by. :)

Nope. That was the proposal, but the state legislature killed the bill that would actually allow table games, slots, etc. One of the supporters of the bill called the vote "a victory for the taxpayers of Massachusetts".

Caesars will get the license to build at Suffolk Downs.

Wynn doesn't really give a shit about building at Everett, he might do it if Caesars miraculously falls through.

He's just doing it to drive up the cost for Caesars. Same way Bob Kraft suckered Hartford in order to get Mass. to do more free infrastructure for Gillette Stadium.

Yeah there really is no point to build one at Suffolk downs and the other in Everett.

On another note. The tables did finally open at Twin River in RI last week. One of my coworkers went and he said the place was mobbed even between 2 and 4 am and the blackjack table min was $25.

Isn't there going to be an Indian casino built in Taunton?
