I am on the overweight size and older and I deal with hot flashes and being uncomfortable in normal daily wear.
In an attempt to be more comfortable I would love to hear from others with regards to handling the heat and how they dress along with hair tools you might take with you. How do you wear your hair and what do you wear?

I am too small for larger lady clothing and too large for average. So finding jeans/capris is quite difficult.

I hit surgical menopause this past year  I'm chubby but not so chubby that I need plus sizes (and steadily losing weight now, thank God). I'm also a petite (short). And I've got a crisscross of surgical scars all over my belly, so pants are my biggest problem.

There's a chain of stores here in Ontario Canada that sells "comfort" pants. OMG they are a life saver. The store is called Reitmans and they do sell these magic pants on their website. Regular, tall, petite, regular and plus sizes. They do capri, workout/yoga, skirts in the comfort style.

Otherwise I'm doing light layers because I figure that's easier with menopause. In the summer I'm doing more dresses and skirts for comfort. They have this wonderful stuff called chaffing cream/gel, I'll let you guess where a chubby short lady might need such a product in summer while wearing a skirt or dress.

I can't help you with hair. Mine is long for now and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I might chop it at my pre-trip hair appointment. I don't do a lot of makeup, so can't help you there either.

LOL Lola, surgical menopause. Not laughing that you had to have it but gave me a chuckle as i never heard it called that before.

Reitmans is good and i use their sister store addition elle a lot too, they have dressier clothing too. They are both a mixed bag. They have so many clothes though, do you shop online or only in store? Would love a link to the pants you buy.

I love their capris(addition elle), no buttons to rub on the stomach so they are really comfortable.

They are owned by the same company.

as for hair/make up, when are you going? We went to florida in august, worst time to go. I chopped my hair which was down to the middle of my back at my bra line to just below shoulders, then kept it in a pony and wore no make up. I sweated it off. At night it was still just as humid.

The desert is dry so not sure if that's a problem. It may be hot, but probably not humid so your normal stuff should work, lots of moisturizer.

For cooler months, I have no problem wearing jeans all the time. In the summer, I wear capris most of time and wear a track suit on the plane. I've rarely need to wear a dress or a skirt. If there is a dressier occasion, I may pack a pair of dress pants from Lane Bryant if jeans or khakis with a fancy top won't suffice. As for hair, I usually have my hair braided in the summer months as it is low maintenance and it keeps my head cool. If not, I have no shame in ponytails. I know people want everyone to dress to the nines but it's too damn hot for that and I would rather be comfy.

For me, anyway, I seem to be too cold more than too warm in Las Vegas, even in the summer. They still OD on the AC although it's not nearly as bad as it was in the 80s or 90s. I'll carry a big shirt with me even in the summer.

DMR brings up a good point. The inside of casinos can be too cold in summer and too warm in winter. I think light layers including a wrap or scarf of some kind if you're going to wear a sleeveless top.

i used to live in jeans.. then I got pregnant, had the baby cut out of me, and now I hate jeans. They just bother me a lot, and i know TMI but so does underwear, just annoys the shit out of me. So I live in yoga pants because they are tight like I like them, and they are looser and easier to move in than jeans. So I have capri yoga pants and regular yoga pants as well..

my hair is always up,, in a pony tail. I am pretty simple.

Yoga pants and yoga capri's are also my friend. I have nicer ones from the store I mentioned earlier that I can kind of pass off as pants depending on how things are.
