I have $200 coming to me in August. My plan is to play $2-$5 DDB VP, hoping a couple of full houses or straights can allow me to double my money.

The lower house edge would seem to make this the obvious play, though I know others probably just see it as additional play money.

Has anyone ever hit something big while playing their free play through? 4 OAK would be sweet when playing on the house money, but I have my doubts.

I had this happen a few years ago at a local riverboat. Started on a Monopoly slot, made about $100. Cashed out and moved a few machines down the aisle (a Dirty Harry themed slot) with the TITO (mix of freeplay and the win) and hit a $3000 jackpot after about 5 minutes of play (the woman who had just left that slot was pissed when she came back by and saw my win). Left there and went to another riverboat a few miles away and won $500 on a Star Trek slot (it was new at the time and this was the first time I played it). Never touched my bankroll for that day of playing.

I saw in the trip reports someone just hit for 12k in freeplay money.

I'm definitely not in your league when it comes to free play, but when I get those $5 free play coupons from CET I'll occasionally turn them into $10 or more of real money. Of course it (and more) usually goes right back in and is absorbed in that day's play money.

Four Queen's had an offer of $10 free play if you show a player's card from another downtown casino. My husband won $2000 on that one. On the same trip, we had free play at the Golden Gate, $25 for hubby and $9 in free play for me. Hubby won $250 and I won $100. So it might be rare but it does happen!

Don't scoff at free play, I've won hundreds starting with 5 or $10 bucks in free play.

I made $150 last for over eight hours last week, starting at the Quad on VP. Love the multi-denom machines where you can go up and down as your play goes. Man! That $12,000 hit was pretty!

The 4 Queens still had that offer as late as a few months back. The player's club said that the offer was good only once for the $10. Turned it into $250 on a 25 cent Double Diamond Deluxe machine.

Did you play any slots too or just video poker? What did you hit 12,000 on? I know the Quad has a lot of video poker machines, but I don't really play VP. I mostly play slots because VP does not really give me much when I have tried it. I want to try VP again sometimes, but I do not know how to win a lot on it like I do playing slots. There is only 2 slots I tried inside the Quad, the lobster one against the wall at 60 cents max bet and the game behind it at $2.50 winning $400 playing for less than 10 minutes on the free spins on konami fortune of the orient. The lobster one paid nothing. Also when I signed up for a TR card, no free play for signing up, but I do have $100 free play offer to use next time I go to vegas and stay at a CET casino.

I have really good luck on free play at my local in so cal, so hopefully in Vegas I have luck too.

My best free play was last October at Planet Hollywood. I had 4000 Reward Credits and went to the TR desk and asked to redeem it for slot play. The lady told me I shouldn't use it for slot play because it's only $20, as opposed to $40 for food or whatever else. It was the last day of my trip so I insisted on the freeplay. 2nd spin on a monopoly slot I hit the bonus round and won $180. I went back to celebrate with the TR desk lady.

I usually lose with free play but once in a while you hit a 4OAK. Once, only once, I had a $60 free play at Harrah's Atlantic City and hit a Royal for $4,000. What could be sweeter? You just keep saying to yourself, "Wow. Thanks for the free bankroll."

I had $50 FSP on 2 days at the Flamingo last year. I hit a nickel royal for $200 on the first day's fsp then hit a quarter royal for $1000 on the second day's fsp! I also had $10 fsp at a local casino and I stuck it in a quarter single line Aces Bonus progressive. I went on a quad-fest, played for 3 hours, and cashed out over $400.

It certainly does happen! Good luck!
