Why won't Mandalay Bay honor my Aria mail out offer??

Mlife is really pissing me off. I got a mail out offer for 3 comp nites, 150 freeplay and 150 resort credit plus two comp show tickets from Aria for my fall offer. This is a quality offer for my play level, however my wife wants a better pool scene and Aria dropped the ball massively on our last visit so I called MB to ask if they would match the offer. They claimed it was "non-transferable".

So let me get this straight even though the comp rate for your rooms is a fraction of Aria's and I have a long play history at Beau Rivage and in Vegas you can't match the offer?? Why the hell not? I have 10 trips of consistent play at my current level with no "non play" trips. MB is a much lower tier property than Aria. So what gives?

Is this an issue a host could resolve? My play doesn't warrant one (I have had an offer from a NYNY host) however you would think the idiots would want the action considering I'm staying wed-sat. Absolutely ridiculous.

Porbably not. With mLife, each casino is a "separate entity" with separate P&L for each casino.

You should check with your host at Beau Rivage first and see what they can do.

Do you not get M Life "corporate" offers - which typically have an offer for each of the M Life properties.

Call MB's VIP Services toll free number and hope to speak with someone else. Oftentimes, speaking with a different person gets a different result.

The corporate offer is some pitiful crap like 150 free play no resort credit no show tickets. I'm not leaving 300 in comps on the table to stay at a lower tier resort.

Speak with a host. I had offers for Bellagio and Aria and my wife wanted to use the MB pools so I contacted a host there and when he looked up my play, he told me what he could do and it was better than the Bellagio and Aria marketing offers.

Call VIP and ask to speak with host on duty then? I am aware my play doesn't warrant a host however my current plan of action is to do just that. If he tells me to piss off I will just book Aria I guess.

Each casino evaluates your play at their own casino when extending offers. If you qualified for the Aria offer at Mandalay Bay, you'd have received that offer from them.

If you get more free stuff from a nicer resort, stay at the nicer resort.

I have never stepped foot into Mandalay Bay. I have an extensive history with mlife. Why can't they just extend te offer on that basis? They would prefer I spend money at Aria? That is business prevention at its finest.

I understand why you are aggravated, but why does your wife think she will like the pool at MB better than the one at Aria if you have never been? I strongly prefer Aria's pool. Unless you really need a wave pool or a lazy river, or are very young, Aria is better in every way.

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago: Aria sent offer for 3 nights comped (Friday to Monday) along with $150 resort credit and $300 free play. Wife wanted to stay at Monte Carlo - though Aria is a nicer property she never has any luck in their casino and wanted to stay and play at Monte Carlo.

I called Monte Carlo up and although we had stayed there comped on our previous trip (Monaco suite, resort credit, free play. Actually been comped at Monte Carlo at that point for 4 of our previous 5 trips) they wouldn't even give me one night comped up front let alone any free play or resort credit (they did add the usual about can stay and play there and then visit MLife or host at end of trip to get comps).

That was what I got from their VIP services.

After that I did talk to a host at Monte Carlo and she gave a pretty decent explanation of what the MLife program is doing and that basically they have the generic offers sent out by MLife, which are reflective of your play at a whole, but are not as good as the offers sent out by individual hotels' marketing programs, that the hotels offers are more tailored to the guest, and that the hotel offers are reflected by your activity on your last stay... in our case that although our last trip we stayed at Monte Carlo we gave a fair bit of our play to Aria and Mirage and so our Monte Carlo offers were currently reflecting that and that was why we were getting much better offers from Mirage and Aria - that it really comes down to they need their complimentary hotel rooms for guests who will be spending time and money at their resort and that if I increase my play at Monte Carlo on our next trip it will reflect in future offers from Monte Carlo (and then also the usual that I can still stay at Monte Carlo and have my play reviewed at the end of my stay for comps earned that trip).

Or basically they don't want to give me a free room for the weekend and then have me stay at their hotel but go spend all my time and money and another property, even if its one of their own.

And thats probably whats going on with the OP and Mandalay Bay: don't know how much time you've ever spent at Mandalay Bay but if its not much or any at all they probably just don't know what you are going to do... if they give you a room for free but then you go and play somewhere else, because the reason rooms are comped are based on the expectation of what you will spend in their casino, but if you have little to no history with their casino thats what they would expect (little to no play in their casino).

The reason they do it this way now is because its a knee-jerk reaction they had to all the abuse the MLife program took in its early days: originally if you got an offer at one property you would get offers at other properties that had similar value... the abuse was that people were then booking at "lesser" properties to get more, but going back to their old favorites to play. IE: you might get an offer for 3 nights comped at Bellagio with $250 in free play but instead if you booked at MGM Grand you would get a mid level suite and maybe $500 in free play or if you stayed at Excalibur you would get a high level suite and $750+ in free play... people were doing that, taking the much better rooms and free play at the lower end properties but then they'd still go back to Bellagio to do the bulk of their gambling.

I think you answered your own question there.

Call and speak to a host at MB and ask what they can do. You may not think you warrant a host, but those are the ones who can move things around. The worst they can say is no.

But, just so you know, both mLife and CET do this. Just because I get a killer offer at Planet Hollywood because of my past play at their property, doesn't mean that Ballys or Flamingo would jump through hoops to get me to to stay at a lower status property in their group.

So Auggie... if I were to go to MC and not play much, but do a bulk of my play at Bellago my ADT is looked at per property not as a whole like CET does it?

Hopefully, in your conversation, you did not try to use the Aria offer. Any $10 an hour clerk would of course end the discussion right there.

On the other hand, if the question was - what can YOUR HOTEL do for me...it might be better.

    OR

Aria marketing might just be trying to get more people in and willing to spend more of their budget on these offers than MB or MGM, etc want to spend for your level of play.

And that is what I am seeing. Aria is offering me Corner Suite, $300 FP, $150 Resort Credit, and 2 show tix. All other Mlife properties are offering me a basic room, $100 FP, $50 Resort Credit, and BOGO show tix. It's a no-brainer for Aria

Exactly wanker, cet doesnt care where you play but mlife is more play where you are booked. Yes you still receive express comps with mlife but they would rather you play more at the property you are booked.

I prefer mlife but they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Im actually staying at Wynn in a few weeks and a MB host told me I could use my express comps for MJ1 if I cannot do a bill back to wynn for the tix and it wouldnt be reflected on me. I always thought it would hurt me but he said it wouldnt which is a plus in my book. At CET, doing something like that apparently hurts you.

That is good to know. Yeah one thing I do not like CET. I only get offers for ballys, flamingo, harrahs, or rio. Even if I do most of my play at Paris or PHO. I plan to put play in Belligio in the hopes of future offers. I get better rates at Aria than Monte Carlo based on my play there.

I forget whether it involved using CET Reward Credits on your getaway day or using them on a day where you weren't staying or playing at CET but the way Hunter put it was along the lines of any day a comp (and that would include RCs) is used, play is expected.
