This is very annoying.
light burned out?
One of the best innovations to come along. Before Turtleman mentioned it, I never knew they existed.
No help as to why yours stopped working. At $26.42 with free shipping, probably cheaper to buy new, rather then a repair.
Try turning it over and shaking out all those crumbs, I get almost enough for lunch when I do that!
Yeah, there might be some seeds in there.
I failed to mention that it's a laptop.
Could be the leads that connected to the backlights got loose/disconnected. That happened with an Alienware of mine, where one particular color in one zone stopped working. The bad news is that you probably will need to take it in to get repaired (or have someone come out if it's still under warranty); the good news is that it should be a pretty easy fix for a reputable shop, and hopefully not all that expensive.
Not only that, but what brand and what model.

There's a chain of reasonably-priced repair stores in my city...called "U Break I Fix".
They're really pretty good. Look into that.
I have no plausible explanation for this, but it is now suddenly working.
It's a triumph of your will.
