I'm curious as to why the rates are so high for the weekend of September 13-15 at the Golden Nugget??? Plus their Carson rooms are sold out. I know that there's a Mayweather fight at the MGM Grand but surely that doesn't affect Downtown, does it?! :hmmm:

Yes a fight of that magnitude affects the entire city.

It's called a Mayweather Weekend, all of Vegas benifits.

If you are not set on staying at the GN, Plaza has rooms for $40 on Hotwire for that weekend. That's a pretty good deal for ANY weekend.

Thanks guys! That's what I thought.
Thanks also for the room rate tips! Luckily I booked at the Golden Nugget before the rates went up and the Carson Tower sold out.

It sure does my friend. People come out of the woodwork for big fights. Most end up watching it on TV and betting on it. Go the following week and save some cash. To me its not worth spending all that extra money.

That explains it. We're booked Sept 13 - 15 at Golden Nugget, and it's so much higher that weekend! Tempted to switch to MSS after reading so many good things.
