Do you have a lucky talisman? Who brings the same item every trip? Do you wear lucky undies? Do you put something on the table or slot to bring you good fortune? A monkey or maybe a cuke. A bottle of vodka or Veuve? Jordan? I don't. I think.... But I have a purple shirt dress shirt that only looks good (appropriate) in Vegas. I have a couple t's I bring every time that make me look thin!... I hope!

I don't really believe in luck, but I have a particular shirt that I was wearing when I got all of my 4OAK in Mississippi Stud (all seperate occasions) and $5600 in hand pays (also seperate occasions)...

So, as you probably guessed, I always wear it when I go to Vegas

DeMo... Lets get this straight... you've gotten multiple 4 - oak's and 5.6k in hand pays wearing the same shirt... How many we talking abt? Once a trip? How much did you bet for the hand pays - I assume slots? Any major scores not wearing your favorite shirt?

I have four 'lucky' somethings that I always wear or have on my person when gambling:
a jade elephant charm (anniversary present years ago from DH), a Horseshoe shaped bracelet (from my best gambling buddy), a Brighton charm bracelet with gambling doodads (gift from my two daughters), and a silver James Avery charm on a necklace "A very special Grandmother" (from my SIL) that I always wear no matter where I am.

On those occasions when they don't bring me good gambling luck, they bring me good memories, a reminder of all that is good in this world, and a smile, always! To me that's always a win. "Luck", for me, is a state of mind.

Best of luck to everyone - whatever works for you!

I have had three 4OAK, all wearing the same shirt, in the same seat, at the same table at Margaritaville. Along with a few full houses, same shirt.

$5600 was two handpays: $4k ($5 slot, betting 1 credit) and $1600 (same machine, betting 2 credits) different trips.

I also hit a $1000 this year ($5 slot, betting 1 credit), same shirt.

I have never had a noteworthy winning session wearing any other shirt... a few small wins, but nothing to remember

I know this sounds really stupid, but for some reason I seem to do better, gaming wise, when the flight in lands on the north-south runway instead of the east-west one that it usually does. It always seems like a good omen when we land parallel to the Strip, and it seems like on those trips I end up coming back with more than I came with. :)

These questions always make me smile because they remind me of my old best friend, now deceased, who always said with a grin, "don't you know it's bad luck to be superstitious?"....with that said, I usually carry along a chip from a casino where I previously had a really good winning streak...Unfortunately, I don't think it's working ....

My GF and her family say I'm bad luck when it comes to gambling. No one wants me near them or to touch them when they are playing slots. My GF will be winning until I come up to see her and then start losing. Then when I walk away she'll start winning again.

I tell myself that I don't believe in luck. But for years, I've had the most awful luck when the moon is full or nearly full. I never think about it in advance, but when I really lose badly, I check and sure enough...full moon.

I've spent way too many hours pondering the subject and haven't yet found a lucky charm, incantation, or anything else that I can "take to the bank." Nonetheless, here are a few tidbits I've learned concerning luck:

    • It comes and goes (it seems that it mostly goes)
    • It tends to favor very drunk and/or very stupid people
    • A stupid person can be very lucky
    • A smart person can be very unlucky
    • It favors those who need it the least
    • It sneaks up on you, and may come and go in an instant
    • You cannot buy, sell, borrow, steal, or save it
    • It's relatively easy to spot when others have it
    • It's not always easy to see when you have it

In gambling, your chances of being lucky are inversely proportion to the HA of the games you play.
With women, your chances of getting lucky are directly proportional to the size of your bankroll...at least in Vegas!
Good luck to everyone in 2016!

You are talking about superstition, not luck.

    Luck is just positive variance.

Superstition is thinking that wearing a certain shirt affects variance.

I avoid $50 bills in Vegas. Not because I believe in the curse, but 1) other people do and I don't want to be THAT guy, that's breaks out the 50's at a table and hears the groans from other people and 2) It is easy enough not to do it, no need to take a chance.

I have taken graduate level statistics, and I also believe in stats, odds, standard deviations, and reversions to the mean. However, if you are a gambler, at least some small part of you has to believe in luck.

Exactly, if all you believed in was statistics, odds, etc. You would NEVER make a bet in a casino or buy a lottery ticket.

One other thing I've noticed is that I never seem to do very well on slot machines that have four rows!

Another thing, is that when I hit a big one, it's very often the first play on the machine, or one of the first.
