Just curious as to what the best whiskey I could ask for at most tables and be able to enjoy? I'm usually a pretty average betting level craps player, setting the pass/odds and a few numbers at or a little above the table minimum. Would any MGM properties give out anything like Glenlivet or Macallan? I would atleast like to sip some Knob Creek while throwing the bones.

Drop past one of the bars inside a casino and scan the bottles so you know what they have. Pick out your favorite poison, and you should be able to order it at the table. One single malt or another is likely to be offered. Knob Creek is fairly common as well.

Excellent advice about scanning the bars. While I'm not a whiskey drinker, I've been with friends at places like Aria/Wynn/Bellagio where they'll bring you a good single malt.

By personal experience, Macallan 12 is comped freely at tables and machines at Aria/Bellagio/Venetian/Palazzo/Wynn.

I prefer Single Barrel Jack Daniels and have had pretty good success getting it at Bellagio (its also part of their signature-drink Tennessee Highball) and mixed success at Aria.

Thanks for the replies, sounds encouraging and I'm looking forward to sipping some good stuff while throwing the dice.

Were you able to order some of the Bellagio signature drinks while sitting at the tables on the floor? I'd sure spend more time there if the Tennessee Highballs or Bellinis were flowing freely. What other signature drinks have you guys ordered at Bellagio/Aria?

I've ordered the Tennessee Highball plenty of times at tables at Bellagio...I make it a point to have at least one on every visit. You might get some variance in how it's prepared. Some leave out the bitters and the egg-white.

I noticed that you like some of the single-malt Scotches. I keep a carafe of Macallan 18-year at home. I don't really care for the peaty stuff. I also like bourbons like Blanton's, Booker's, Basil Hayden, Bulleit, Hudson, Elijah Craig, Knob Creek, Baker's, and Woodford Reserve. The problem is that bourbon and gambling don't go well together for me.

You'll be pushing it to get as mcallan 12 and down betting the table minimums. Anything above that is going to require a signature.

Im a scotch drinker and have gotten some great impromptu scotch tastings in the HL rooms at MGM properties. Great advice on looking at the bars and seeing what they have. What i usually do is go in and look and see what they have at the high end steak and seafood restaurants on property, then i know what they have and literally start scratching them off my list as i go.

    Have fun

I forgot to mention this in my TR but I played quite a bit at Whiskey Down in MGM and I forgot to ask about ordering any cocktails or scotches off of the menu while playing. But another player at my table did ask for a Woodford Reserve neat and then I asked her for one too. It was not an issue, they didn't ask for an ok from the pit boss or anything. It was either a $100 or $200 table though. Its on their menu for $14 so its not a big deal anyway, but I got the sense you can ask for quite expensive stuff if you wanted to.

    Here is their menu: http://www.mgmgrand.com/pdf/whiskey_down_menu.pdf

I believe I have gotten Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve, and Maker's comped at MGM playing at the $25 level. I haven't had any luck getting any "good" beers comped, but I think that's more of a factor of the waitresses being clueless. I usually just give up and end up with some crappy Mexican beer!
Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone know what decent beers they might comp at MGM?

I can appreciate this list but would also add Four Roses Small Batch and some Templeton Rye.

Makers Manhattan is my standard drink while playing craps.
Never has a cW blinked an eye at that. Always wondered if I asked for Bakers or Blanton's if there would be questions ?

Depends on the level you are playing at. Its a step up cost wise but not much. If you are giving them any sort of action you should be able to drink your heart out

That has to be a misprint on the menu having Remy Martin Extra at that price (30) as it is about 300 more per bottle than the Remy Martin XO so if you can get it at that price try it it is one of the best Cognacs that I have had

I've enjoyed plenty of Macallan 12 betting $10/15 craps mins at Aria; hell, I even ordered it for my 'friends' at the table and it was a non-event.

Kicken - CW in WD told me that you can order any drink up to $35 off of the menu no problem.

A couple years old but, at the Aria Sports bar and Bellagio Baccarat bar playing $1 VP as well as at $25-50 min BJ tables at both I was allowed to order anything that is listed up to $15 comped. That included:

Oban-14, Auchentoshan-12, Laphroig-10, Macallan-12, a little more Auchentoshan, a whole lot more Oban and that's where things start to get fuzzy.

Comped Lagavulin-16 was off the list until I hit $100 mins. Of course, this occurred in the fuzzy zone so I may have been paying for it. Who knows.

Glenlivet at MGM Grand (none at NYNY) on the craps tables.
