As long as they set/adjust the lines all they really care about is balancing the books. The vig and the prop bets is where they make their money. One of the huge misconceptions the general public has about betting lines is that the betting line is what the casinos think the winner will win by. This is not the case. The casino sports books set/adjust the line to get as close to an equal distribution of dollars bet on both sides as they can, then they collect the vig and clean up.

That being said I think a tough line would for Vegas would be Philly vs. Denver. A lot of big east coast money would be heavily bet on Philly and I think the smart money, albeit less, would be on Denver.

Carolina/Green Bay is also interesting. What if they play a team like Denver? Denver would probably have a ton of money bet on them, pushing the line down, and if a team like Carolina or Green Bay covered the spread it could be costly to the sports books.

Time will tell, but generally the Vegas sports books do very well on Super Bowl weekend.

Lots of good first round match ups, looking forward to next weekend.

Good luck to all the sports bettors on VMB!!! :peace:

Historically the popular teams (SF, NE, Den, GB) and major markets generate the best handles. I think NC vs Cincy would generate a lower handle than SF vs NE but vegas doesn't really care, it's all good to them.

Denver would be an easy double digit favorite over Philly.

If this is regarding what wagers books too for the Super Bowl champion, I would think they do not want Denver to win.

Even with the short odds, they probably took a lot of money on them.

    SF as well.
