We (wife and I) just returned from vegas on Thursday. We stayed at Delano the first 3 nights and then 3 at Venetian. I posted earlier about never using a host, or gotten one. We were always content with my offers without hosts, whether online or regular mail. For the Delano stay we were forced to book with a host because of the room type (penthouse suite) in the offer...strange. We didn't asked for a host. Then before checking into Venetian, I received an email from a host there saying I was assigned to her...with greetings. When we got there another host approach me and offered me 150/day in resort comps and said that it will increase if I increase my play. He said my present play got us the 150 so far. So on our second night there we ordered room service...at like 2am. Along with the meal came a big goodies basket with some much chips, cookies, sodas, and stuff. I asked the server (don't know what to call the people that bring the food) where the basket was from. He said it was probably our host. Mind you that female host from the initial email never even returned my call, of which she ask me to do, when I checked in so she can meet me/us. In the email she also said she had upgraded us to a strip view and that a welcome tray will be in the room when we check in...no welcome tray. So I was curious after receiving that gift basket who it was...maybe to thank her/him. I was on a mission...LOL. I called casino credit (was transferred to) and ask who is my assigned host. The gentleman told me it was ***, the male host that approached me on the gaming floor. So then I called that host and to act like I wanted to know the fine print of the 150/day dining credits offer he offered earlier day before. It turned out he wasn't the one who sent the gift basket. So the disappearing female host sent the basket at like 3 in the morning? I really don't need all this confusion. This host thing is just so annoying to me. So which host will I work with? Or should work with either? One is disappearing and the other keeps telling me to play more...LOL.

PS-Sorry for the long winded post. I was annoyed. Being approached by host always gave the kiss of the death! Same thing happened at the Wynn some months back. I was winning. Host approached. I was losing. LOL!!!

The host probably did not send the basket at 3 am but since you ordered late they threw it on for delivery.

Not returning calls is a red flag for me and seems to be widespread in casino hosts.
I would go with the male host and don't be pressured to play above your comfort zone.

This sort of thing happened to us during Grazie days in November one year. Our gift was a nice piece of cut glass (we're not penthouse suite candidates) that was sitting in our room when we came back to get ready for dinner. Wrapped but no card. I tried to track it down, thinking it had been misdelivered, and was assured it was for us. Never found out who sent it or what we had done to deserve it.

    Grazie!

We use our V/P host pretty much exclusively only for trip planning. He is helpful in getting us a better offer than the marketing emails and fliers are for. When we come in for a special event (we normally come in 3-4 times a year for anny, b-days, etc) we often find a little special surprise at some point during the trip. We're not high rollers either, so its normally nothing extravagant. But once we arrive we're pretty low maintenance. I'd actually prefer not to have a host checking in on me or looking over my shoulder. I like to leave property, walk the strip, etc. I'll have high volume gambling days where I'm spending 9-10 hours at the craps table, or low volume days where I might spend a lot of time at the sportsbook or just people watching on the strip. I don't want a host checking in on me, asking me to play more, etc. At the same time, I do want a host that is responsive when we need him to be.

Its been my experience (and keep in mind - the only place I even have a dedicated host is V/P) that some are aggressive and anticipatory and others more passive and responsive. Some people like the host that seeks you out and asks if you need anything and others prefer a host that is more behind the scenes. I'd say just try and find a host that fits your personality. If you need a referral there at V/P shoot me a message, I'd rather not share names directly on the forum.
