We have stumbled across the perfect storm of time off, a Southwest flight deal and availability at the kennel where we board our dog, and are thinking of booking a trip Dec 19-22. (Hey, what better place to be if the world is gonna end on the 21st, right? :drunk:) Between SW points and room comps, we can go for $300 total for the two of us.

Anyway, I checked Total Rewards and we can get all 3 nights comped at pretty much any of their properties. Caesar's is offering Forum Tower Deluxe King or Roman Tower, the others are all offering their lowest tier and in most cases second to lowest as well. Have stayed at Bally's, Harrahs previously, have not stayed at PH, Paris, Flamingo. Rio is out based on location and IP is not in consideration.

Is it a no-brainer to stay at Caesar's? For some background, we've never stayed there before (usually it's the one place we don't get offered comp) so that would be something new. We are not huge fans of the casino, have never quite felt the vibe there. Maybe that would change if we stayed there. Important features are a good variety of machines, good choice of bars at which to play VP while having drinks (this is a big one for us) and some reasonably priced food options on site. We dabble in table games, but nothing hard core.

One other option is we have 2 nights free at Mirage with the third night around $49. Not seriously considering that because of resort fees, and why pay anything if we can stay completely free. Loved Mirage room last time, did not like only having one choice to play VP at bar and get drinks comped.

So again, is this a no-brainer?

Shoot, some more info that I should have included: We are a married couple, 46 and 51. Only Gold status TR. Other places I am leaning toward are PH and Paris, due to their both being easier to get around, and some good dining options at both places based on previous experience. We are neither high nor low rollers, we budget about $200-$250 per day each to gamble with.

Of all the CET properties, I like Caesars best, so it would be a no-brainer for me, especially if you can't usually get comped there.

I don't spend much on food either - in addition to the food court-type area, which has pretty good food, there's at least two lower-priced restaurants you can eat in or take out from, one by the registration desk and another one called Munchies or something like that.

VP bars I can't help you with, all I know is there's at least one.

Choose a Forum Tower room, not a Roman.

Since you don't usually get the offer and have never stayed there, why not give Caesars a shot? Their casino/hotel layout took me a while to learn and get comfortable in, but once I did, I enjoyed it this last trip quite a bit. Just don't expect the cheap food or tables, especially on the weekends.

On the positive side, though, it's directly across the street from Harrah's, Flamingo, Casino Royale, Bill's, etc. An extra 5-10 minute walk gets you to all of that, plus you'd get the experience of trying out Caesars for free. My wife and I basically did exactly this on our recent trip (though we paid for the room). We stayed at Caesars because I've always wanted to stay there but did most of our playing and eating across the street (we did play a decent amount at Caesars, though, especially during the week).

Caesars all day! Especially if your Gold. My wife and I were comped for 3 nights around that time last hear in a Roman Tower room. Did the $20 trick and was upgraded at check in. Since that day we have been trying to get comped again at Caesars, but with no luck. Caesars is my favorite spot with the huge casino, various places to eat and the a very good sports book in my opinion.

It not automatic to take CP, especially if there are already things you don't like. If you do go with it, take the Forum Tower. But I would at least go with another one of the top 3 which would be either Paris or PH. Paris may be more your speed. And just because you can only book online with a the lowest room doesn't mean that they won't upgrade you at check in. It's more automatic for Diamonds, but if you play well enough for a CP comp and it's slow, you can probably get moved up.

Caesars is the best property obviously... my my preference is Paris. I like the restaurants there, and the location. It's easier to stay there and visit PH, so you don't have to deal with their stupid layout.

But overall if I was comped at Caesars, I'd pick Caesars.

I was never a huge Caesars fan but, decided to stay on a comp earlier this year and it was great. We booked a comp Palace Tower and had no issue upgrading to Augustus Tower at check in. I say give Caesars a try, book the Forum Tower and then see if you can upgrade to Augustus as it has a great location relative to the main entrance.

always liked ceasars, love mesa grill for dinner. great poker room and sports book. the hard part is only get comped one a year, the rest of the time i get the paris, perfect location, pool, gordon ramsays restaurant, not a bad buffet. easy to navigate casino, no poker room.

If you have never stayed at Caesars then if its comped I say go for it.
One you stay there I think you will like it.

Hi Suekel, great topic! I'm currently also planning my next holiday to Vegas and - although I don't get anything comped - I love the prefun of picking the place(s) to stay, weighing the luxury vs location vs prizes, etc. Of course no one can pick for you, but having other opinions can help to make up your mind. I actually came to the MB to ask a similar question, but again, without the luxury of having anything comped. So anyway... since my own holiday is still many months away, it is fun to place myself in your position (I dréam of staying at some of the hotels you can pick from!) and consider the options and think what I would do in your case. And like I said, I'm also planning my next holiday, so I made this list of Total Rewards properties:

    Caesars Palace
    Planet Hollywood
    Paris Hotel
    Flamingo
    Bally's
    Harrah's
Nobu Hotel (not sure if an option?)
Rio All-Suite Hotel (out based on location)
The Quad / IP (not in consideration)

And you mentioned as possibility (but are not seriously considering that):

Mirage (not fully comped + resort fees + only one choice to play VP at bar)

Further based on your OP, I guess you have already brought the choice down to:

Caesars Palace (option: Forum Tower Deluxe King or Roman Tower)
Planet Hollywood (option: lowest and second to lowest tier)
Paris (option: lowest and second to lowest tier)

LOL, those are 3 out of my top 5 list of favorite hotels (not considering the nice ones further away from the center of the Strip)! All for completely different reasons though: Caesars feels to me like overwhelming luxury and James Bond movies, PH feels like party time and I like playing at their casino, and the Paris is so pretty and romantic and I love their buffet and restaurants.

If it was my choice I would pick Caesars Palace, cause it is out of my range and you don't know if you get another chance to have it fully comped again (like other people also said in this thread). Second choice would be the Paris for the above reasons.

Have fun choosing and as least as much fun when you are actually there! And will you let us know what the choice will be and - ones you are back - how it worked out for you?

Definitely Caesars. The Forum tower rooms are much nicer than the Roman tower.
    Plus I love Caesars pool.

Thanks so much to everyone who replied, I really appreciate your responses. Most of you will probably think we are crazy, but we've decided to go with PH. For some reason we - especially my husband - just were not feeling it about staying at Caesar's. The last couple of times we've walked through we got lost on a death march through the Forum shops, neither of us has had much luck gambling there, and when we reviewed the restaurants we did not see many we'd want to try for a casual meal. (There were some nice options for finer dining tho, which we may try for dinner one night).

Since we are going in Dec and the pool is not a factor, PH won out due to it's being a bit easier to navigate, having a couple good options for casual dining, and we've done ok there in the past on gambling. Our options for comp room are Hollywood Hip King or Petstay Resort. (We are animal lovers, so the Petstay thing does not bother me if it means getting a significantly better room.) Any suggestions on which to book or what kind of room to ask for an upgrade to upon check in?

In the past couple of years we've started going to Vegas a bit more frequently (2-3 times per year instead of 1) and have been increased our gambling budget, so hopefully we'll get the chance another time to try Caesars, maybe when we are with a group of people.

Thanks again for all the input!!
