I was watching a bac table this weekend waiting to get a seat that has a side bet of Dragon 7 (winning 3 card banker 7 40-1) and Panda 8 (winning 3 card Player 8 25-1). Most of the people at the table seem to know each other and they all decide pretty much in unison to go big on the side bets and Player bets. Player wins, player wins, then a Panda win and another Panda win. Everybody at this point is getting paid $1,000 chips and one player in the center is starting to win big. He starts going on Banker big with the max side bet of $200 on Dragon 7. Hits a couple bankers and then 2 dragons! At this point the table is up well over $100,000. The waitress comes over and he orders 3 packs of cigarettes and gives the waitress $30. She comes back a little later with ONE pack of cigarettes and he freaks out. I GAVE YOU $30!! WHERE'S MY OTHER CIGARETTES!!! $30!! As he's yelling he loses $5,000 on the table, loses $6,000, puts max bet on Panda and Dragon on his spot and the spot next to him ($800) and loses another $5,000. Never showed any anger or emotion as he's losing these large bets. Goes thru all his winnings, buys in for $4,000 three more times and starts in on the pit boss about how he gave her $30!!! Ends up losing everything but did get his other 2 packs of cigarettes! (Took his $6 change -no tip)

This guy had at least $50,000 + his buy-ins and went on complete tilt over $30. Never once let out any anger at the bets themselves.

Hilarious! I see this at Bac and Craps tables all the time. The gambler will be fixated on some little thing and miss the big picture....

There is a difference between voluntarily throwing away money and being ripped off.

Lighten up guy. So serious. The point was the guy started seeing red and went on complete tilt over two packs of cigarettes which the lady was coming back with and cost him about $25,000 a pack.

Sounds like a guy to whom principles are more important than money - nothing wrong with that.

Funny how those who bet the most are the cheapest SOB's in the casinos.

I'm perfectly light. What you mean is: "please don't have a different opinion to me, if offends me".

I'm sorry, but gambling is a choice. Giving someone $30 for cigarettes and getting one pack back is being ripped off. He had a legitimate beef, although it doesn't sound like he handled it very well.

Right, if she took his $30 and was never seen again she would have ripped him off. But she came back with one pack instead of 3(along with a tray of drinks). Honest mistake. She immediately went and got him his other 2 packs and in that very short time period is when he went bust.

Its an extreme example, but a rather common thing.

We price things based on expectations. He was expecting to gamble a ton, and knew the risks and was willing to absorb the loss.

But he had an expectation of what that $30 would get and didn't receive it.

In other words, the gaming was going how it should go. The cocktail service was not. Doesn't mean he didn't overreact. And if being mad actually changed his play decisions (I wouldn't assume this is the case just because he started losing .... post hoc ergo propter hoc?), then he has anger management issues.

But being angry over some small cost when he's gambling larger amounts isn't that strange.

I don't know about you, but I feel a bit of a tool for arguing about this. Shall we move on?

Something doesn't add up. With bets like that, why weren't his cigs comped?

This happened at Harrah's St Louis. I'm not sure if they comp things like that there. They won't even take chips for drinks or cigs. Has to be cash.
