For those of you that fly to Vegas, does anyone stop on the way from the airport to grab drinks, food, etc? If so, what and where?

My normal routine with my group of Vegas buddies is to get the rental car, stop by Von's on Tropicana to grab drinks and snacks for the room, head to the Double Down Saloon for happy hour then on to the hotel. Used to order pizza at the Milanos right by The Double Down and take it to the hotel but I think they changed ownership last time we were there and it was overpriced and average at best. Might add a stop by In N Out burger this trip (we don't have them in Ohio).

    Let's hear it.

    From the Airport:
    1. To the Rental Car Facility via their bus
    2. To the Rebel gas station on the corner of E Warm Spings and S LV Blvd, so that I can grab a box of water
    3. To the hotel!

Depending on the time, I usually stop at the Raising Canes on S LV Blvd by the Rental Car Facility when I'm heading back to the airport. Love that place!

Since we always stay downtown, we pick up the rental car, and head north up Dean Martin Way (west-side frontage road) to Industrial Rd. , eventually ending up at Charleston & LV Blvd, where there is a Walgreen's. OR ... we head further east on Charleston to a Dollar Tree store, which has even more choices, and cheaper prices.

It depends on the time. Late
    1. Rental car

    2. Liquor store/gas station for water, liquor, beer, snacks

    3. Room

After check in, it's back out to the the strip with a drink and beer in my hand.

    Early
    1. Rental car

    2. Total Wine in Henderson, grocery store for snacks and water. Or, even got to Costco Business on MLK.

    3. Room.

There really isn't a ton to stop for before the room. We like to drop everything off asap before going out to eat.

You can check Vons specials right on the web ahead of time.

After picking' up my bag off the luggage carousel, I head out door #10 to the Rental Car shuttle and the 7 minute trip to the Rental Center. Upon entrance, I take a hard left and walk past the good folks in lines and up the escalator to a waiting National Chevy Tahoe or GMC Yukon. The last one they gave me had 4, yes 4 miles on it! They're so good to me!

I maneuver around to get on the 215 through the tunnel, yes thru the evil tunnel, to Swenson, past the world famous Thomas and Mack Center (Go Rebels!) and the take a left on Naples (right where the Double Down is). I like to stop at the little Smoke Shop in the little strip center, right next to the pizza place and yes... after the fire closed the place for awhile, the pizza isn't anywhere near as good as before. The guy who owns the Smoke Shop is great and he quickly grabs the accouterments he knows I like and I'm off north on Swenson to Twain, take a right and head down almost to Maryland to the Von's.

Pretty much get everything else there, bananas, booze, gatorade and anything else I need. Stuff it in my bag, cause the Hard Rock isn't digging' on outside stuff bein' brought in these days. From there I usually head to a pre-arranged meeting and then back to the hotel. Sometimes, I don't have anything until a dinner meeting, so I head back to the Hard Rock and ALWAYS enter off Harmon to the HRH Tower. Separate valet, check-in and everything... so fast!!!

Can pretty much do this with my eyes closed these days!

If staying Downtown the from the airport we will usually take a taxi to Monte Carlo or Excalibur where we'll check our bags, hit the food court for a quick bite and then do some gambling until around 4-5PM and then take a taxi to downtown

If staying on The Strip then we just go straight to the hotel. Usually where we stay its not far from the hotel to a Walgreens, ABC or CVS so we'll check in, go up to the room, drop off luggage and then I have this little suitcase with wheels that is all fabric so it folds up really small and then take that down to the casino with us, do some gambling and then later on we'll wander over to the store and stock up on stuff for the room.

We take a taxi from the airport. I usually pack some balance bars/nuts/dried fruit for snacks in my luggage to have in the room.

I'm thinking we may stop at In n Out since I've never been there but it will be midnight so I'm not sure if they're open. We usually just get to the hotel, check in and stop at a couple of slots on the way to the room!

If I'm driving in, We'll stop at Capriotti's for a quick bite . Otherwise, we've already picked up what we need.
However, on the way out, we pick up a dozen sub rolls from Great buns bakery.

Once I get to the airport I grab a shuttle and head straight to my hotel. I just want to settle in before I do anything else.

We always fly into Vegas first thing in the morning. After picking up rental car, quick zip to Whole Foods on Las Vegas Blvd for a big case of water (cheap!) and various fruit and snacks, along with some excellent espresso from their coffee bar. Then on to Ronald's Donuts to satisfy our vegan apple fritter addiction...
